:sarcasm:
Kind of expected it, get ready to sink deeper in debt.
That says it all right there.Quote:
“I know Jane Philpott is a very principled individual, but running as an Independent is something a lot of people can’t get behind,” she said. “We have an entrenched party system. And that is one of the reasons I decided to run. So many people said they wanted to vote for a Liberal candidate in this riding.”
Markham/Stouffville elected ex-Wynne-cabinet-Liberal Helena Jaczek, ousting incumbent independent ex-liberal Jane Philpott.
I live right downtown and the site of all those 19-25 y/o, tunel visioned UofT students preaching Trudeau and the Libtards almost made me scream!! The two I talked to at my polling station were in school to be teachers and their only argument was F Doug Ford?! I countered with HE IS NOT ANYWHERE NEAR OUR RIDING and they still preach about school cuts and racism....what the actual fuck?!?! ALL of Toronto gone red?!? IM fubared!!!
I was a little disappointed with this one - at least its a minority, hopefully this will take the pace down a notch and keep the crookedness in check...I'm all for green earth but they've been talking cleaning the earth up since the 70's for the future of our children when I was a child (best to my youthful knowledge) and now want to change the earth overnight - the pace of that endeavor is outpacing being able to paying for it now that those children have grown and had nothing to do with the bullshit and are being forced to pay for it -
Average length of a minority in Canada is less than 2 years. Hopefully it holds true.
Thats it....I'm selling everything and moving to the Philippines....
The PPC outcome made me laugh though.
I cannot for the life of me understand how the unprincipled, corrupt, freespending Liberals got re-elected, albeit with a minority. How on earth can so many people be so dumb? And Blind?
Combination of factors. Conservatives are too far dependent on out West to take enough of a stance on Climate Change to sway many younger voters. Scheer was seen as not trustworthy enough of a leader to really coerce those on the fence. Also the PC decision to basically lock Doug Ford in a closet for the last few weeks of election vs using him to try and campaign may have hurt more than helped.
If you look at the numbers Conservatives barely won the popular vote but FPTP means the Liberals still grabbed more ridings. However I don't think a proportional representation model would be any better as all it would have really done is give the PC's one or two more seats over the Liberals and handed a bunch more over to NDP resulting in even more a lame duck.
Biggest takeaway here is more of the voting public are in favour of PC government over a Liberal one but the PC's really really really need to evaluate the way they platform and campaign if they ever hope to gain a majority government.
Best part, try and find anyone willing to admit they voted Liberal.
I'm staying away from socialist websites like reddit to avoid going ballistic on people. It's impressive, however, how easy it is to convince people to vote a certain way.
I may be a liar, corrupted, racist and worse than my counterpart but all I need to do is say "Doug Ford" and win. Not saying trudeau won big last night but the liberals maintaining party status is enough of a fail for the country.
I want to start my own political party, call it the common sense party of Canada... Basically a true middle ground party not left or right but taking the best of both parties and running with it.
That was a great Monday Night Football game...so glad I stayed home and watched it all...LOL.
A promise is a promise. I said I would because some guys here were just too tunnel-visioned. Although I didn’t vote directly for the Libs, I didn’t vote Conservative either, which ultimately is a vote for the Libs anyway. And it’s the first time I haven’t voted Conservative since I don’t know when. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to have done this either.
So good, I’m glad he won. People who blindly squeal the virtues the far right will ultimately scare a progressive, who might have otherwise voted conservative, over the line to a party that’s more moderate.
And that’s exactly what happened here. Everyone thought Trudeau was going to fall. The Uber Right got all riled up and into a frenzy about it and revealed themselves for who they really were. And that’s not a Canada that most want to live in.
The Libs were punished for their errors and given a minority. But a minority of this structure is hardly a minority at all. They only two parties that are going to hook up are the Greens and the NDP, and they are both more in line with the Libs than the Cons Or Bloc. So really, it may appear as a minority but I don’t think it’s going to play out that way.
Sooooooo...... we're still getting free smores? right?

The “Conservatives” lost because they are not real conservatives but the Reform Party with a different name. The old PC party died years ago when they merged with the Reform party to form the Conservative Reform Alliance Party, a monicker they ditched when someone realized is was shortened to CRAP. This election should have been a cakewalk for Sheer but he and his party blew it. He should resign.
East Coast voters ??? :)

How about the Conservative Unified Nationalist Trust
It’s designed to make you and many others feel that way. That there is a real difference. And that may have been the case before we walked this earth. But now..? No. I don’t think so. When one of the established parties goes too far off script, they risk losing the moderates. And that’s exactly what happened here. Bernier even lost his own riding.
Canadians voted and now this minority government is what you have. Like it or not. And until a Conservative candidate can step up to the plate and offer a real platform that takes into consideration what concerns Canadians in this day and age, people will play it safe and go with what they know. And that’s what they did.
Just read:
Scheer blames Trudeau for him losing...
WTF, no shit!
I like turtles
Excellent points, given the freespending all parties( including my Conservatives) they didn't portray the parties I recall.
Somehow the Conservatives have to find away to show they are fiscally Conservative, and you don't need to scorch the earth with wasteful cuts that don't save any money like the Ontario Conservatives.
And maybe if Scheer could have answered a question straight up ( wasn't an insurance agent but walked around an answer, his abortion stand gobbledygook was so he didn't offend his religious base etc.) he just seemed to be lesstrust worthy.
The Conseratives may needto come back to the east to find a leader ( Peter Mckay?)
He needs to go for sure. Dont us paying members get a say?
I know someone who openly admits to voting liberal. His reasoning, its better to have the devil you know vs the devil you don't know. Almost makes sense.
Would have for 2015 lol at least the devil known then wasn't a full on idiot. Lol

JT: the Whynn government in Ontario has done an amazing job!
Conservatives: we are broke and in serious trouble. all the manufacturing has left, the hydro system is broke, everything is ruined and the Federal Liberals will do the same thing to the country as the provincial liberals did to Ontario.
Liberal: there is nothing the same between federal and provincial politics. completely different platforms and agendas
also Liberals: SHEER WILL BE THE EXACT SAME AS FORD!
