Can you get moonshine in Canada?
I feel like a heathen reading these posts. I just like beer and some JD and coke...
I've had some of the barn variety. I have a roommate in university whose grandmother would send him care packages - socks, spam and proper moonshine.
but I have not had the store bought stuff. just saw it in a magazine recently.
Blackmare - I can give you an education in Woodward!!
Thanks Brian. Interesting read.
No thanks Matt. :) My Dad and brother in law are really into scotch, I've tried the good stuff and not so good stuff and can't stand the taste of any of it. I've never been able to drink any spirit without a mix. Don't know why.
I never knew what it was called....may swing by tonight and see if i can find a bottle to try out. nothing better then first hand knowledge.
Edit: Nevermind, no one carries it on route home. Closest place is big bay point, schomberg or newmarket.....
I may go grab one from the Newmarket store, just out of curiosity.
swing by my place so we can sample it....
It's just corn or grain alcohol, it's just a novelty. I have a small amount of 96%, your reading that right, grain alcohol that I save for smart asses that say they can "drink anything". I only let them have 1/4 to half a shot. Trust me, they never ask for anymore. I have it so I can cook Portuguese sausage on a porcelain pig. This stuff burns forever. I don't like the flavour at all. I don't even like 151 proof rum.
I can get my hands on Apple shine any time I want. Can't stand it either.
I have some "Slivo" that i brought back from Bosnia in the 90's. They don't nickname it "Sleep in the ditch" for nothing.
"In Bosnia, home distillation of plum rakia/šljivovica is common (plum = šljiva). Croatians and Serbians of Bosnia have a long tradition of making plum rakia and it is often made by individuals."
We used to have to designate 2 people on patrol to be the ones hosted by the locals. They would take great offence if you did not take a drink when they offered it to you. Many a patrol i was often 2/3rds in the bag by the time we made it back to camp. Even would be given the choice of daughters to marry.....
Sippin' on a Mill Street Stock Ale at the moment. Delish
Just stopping for a break from yard work, cracked a cold tall boy Stella...going down good I might just have another!
Having a few Richards dark myself.
On the Barq's tonight.
Started off with Dad's but was only foolin' myself.
I picked up some of that "moonshine" today, jus cuz. but can't make the trip up to the beach tonight, sorry.
tastes like vodka. not my cup o tea ...
100 proof, this could make a nice temporary problem solver with some redbull ...
It has been a dry week for me, too many projects up high to have a drink (reshingling and taking down 2 chimneys at my son's place in Ingersoll) can't have the wobblies 2.5 stories up. Damn!
Moooooooosehead

A lovely 2006 port we picked up in wine country. It's absolutely beautiful!!
Fortified Red Wine at 20% alcohol, wow head ache inducing stuff.
God love Alcoholics!
I can just see a bunch of them sitting around having some nice red wine..... "you know what we need? MORE alcohol!"
Sitting at the breakfast table having a glass of tomato juice.... "you know what we need? squeeze some clams into this ....and MORE alcohol!"

Well it's a random pic but its booze ;)
Bottles upon bottles my friend. A few years back my old man and I took a tour of the port caves in Porto.. what a great experience that was. Tried some 100+ yr old Port along with some different ones. Lets just say finding the clutch spot on a 90hp 1.1 ltr is difficult on a 90degree hill (after various tastings of Port :D)
