meh. he's still a ****.
I loved Larson's pass on the last lap, working that high line for a few laps, figured it out and made it stick when it had to. that was cool to see. hopefully he can do the same this weekend when 2nd may actually matter. lol

Oh dear, the 500 mile race next season at Charlotte is going to be using the road course? Please tell me I heard that wrong. What a brutal track. It is barely suitable for little cars like the Conti GS class, and they want to let a bunch of 800hp oval cars loose on there? There is only one place to pass (T1) and 9 times out of 10 that ends with someone in the wall hard. I get that they can only make track changes among the tracks already selected, but this is a horrible idea.
Did you misunderstand what they meant Matt?
Charlotte Motor Speedway’s fall race will be run on the “ROVAL,” a combination of the track’s trioval and the infield road course. And it gets a new date. Courtesy Charlotte Motor Speedway

Def the truck for me.
Yup, that's the one. It's brutal. Keep in mind that this track is half the size of Daytona, so that infield track is super tiny. Barely more than a tight autocross in a parking lot. And with the addition of T8 (the track used to just go fron T7 out onto the oval at T9 in that image) it is even tighter. Its fine for little cars like a Miata or A skip Barber F2000 or the SCCA Spec Fords or the like, but massive Cup car beasts will be nuts. No passing at all but lots of wrecking. Im not even sure the Cup cars will have enough steering lock to make it around T9 as it is now. For example T3 + T4 is just a bit bigger than T5 at Mosport. Now think of that and look at T7, T8 and T9 ...
Its cool that from the start/finish or the oval T1/T2 seats you'll be able to see the entire track (unlike the Daytona road course), and the Charlotte oval is great, but this infield track is a terrible configuration for these stock cars.
Hop on Zippy's sim and try it out, and that will be the old configuration ...
Still leaves the oval for passing, infield does look small though.
I do think they need a road course in the chase, but this may not be the best track.
They should go to Mosport in the summer and save Infinion for the chase.
Oh, and they should do the boot at Watkins Glen too.
^ Absolutely.
