^^^who are you? B.A. Baracus?
scared of flying?
They can't. That's why there's the obesity pandemic where in now. Pop and chips are cheaper than water and apples. Mixed with inactivity from video games because it's too dangerous to play outside and too expensive to join organized sports. It's the perfect storm to why kids are they way they are now. There's no winning.
Two hours and fifteen minutes remain....
So freakin excited
That BS, there are myriad of inexpensive organized sports kids can partake in an all communities.
Most public schools all have many different sports teams, house league and rep sports too...and those are ALL free!
The only sport that has become very expensive is Hockey at the Rep level, at the house league level it is still cheaper than a PS4 and in many communities there are Bursaries to play hockey from the Provincial and Fed GOV, Canadian Tire and the NHL for families that can't afford it or need some help.
Many times the issue with kids inactivity is not with the kid, it's with the Parents or Parent, not managing the child's time, too many parents these days want to be their kids BFF and not the Parent and are simply afraid to instruct them as to what it is they should be doing with their time.
Further, if the Parents are inactive, non-athletic slobs, guess what junior is going to be?
Hungry. Excited.
Time can't go by fast enough.
No desire to go to a Cuban resort again, they just cannot compete with other Caribbean destinations, due to their economic isolation for so many years, but Havana was a very interesting city, the food was way better than the bland, repetitive BS at the resort, all the old American cars still on the road was also neat.
That said, Cuba was great when you were young, because it was so cheap, that may change now, as there will be many Americans that will want to go to a place where they have not been allowed to go.
Going to be a lot more Cuban starting Pitching in MLB now too....http://www.laie-smileys.com/baseball.gif
They can - maybe not as well as someone with more disposable income but it is still possible (may one apple a day will do some). It does however take time and effort. Lots of basic good foods are not that expensive compared to the junk/processed food versions which is not that cheap anymore either (even the yellow no name boxes of stuff) - it takes more work to eat healthier food overall. Ever look at the grocery carts of the not so thin people in the check out line at the grocery? I also watch what folks are picking up in terms of children's versions of food items in the grocery and it's not surprising we have the issues we have.
I'd love to know what hockey league is less than $400 a year lol.
Further more to be eligible for "help" to get your kid to play you need to be either on welfare or make less than the poverty line.
I grew up in a single income home. My parents couldn't afford to put me through sports as I grew up. It broke their hearts. They tried to get help but my father was told he "made too much" which was a fucking farce!
Thankfully I was the last generation that actually played outside. I didn't have a cellphone until I was 19. Didn't have a family computer until I was 16. (Which made schoolwork VERY difficult) however I was always out on my BMX or playing road hockey or football. Just friends though. No leagues.
I only got fat at 18 when I got off my BMX and parked my ass in a car Lmao!!!
I'm happy that when time comes my kids are of age to play sports I'll be able to provide that for them unlike my parents.
But please don't say there's programs out there. Because for the lower working class they just aren't feasible. Only works two ways. Dirt poor (subsidized) or Privilaged.
