View Full Version : Steeda MT-82 Transmission Mount Bushing
6157 ok will be installing this as soon as I get some car stands. Not sure where mine went, lol cant find them anywhere.
I installed the bushing.Right away I could feel the tightness of the shifter. It feels more precise.the shifts are even better then when the tranny is up to temperature. The only thing that I could say is a small minus is the noise, and a little more vibration felt through the tranny. I'll take it thuogh ,shifting feels much better, and the shifter doesn't move as much under hard acceleration.Good buy, I.M.P.O.

Have you considered the MGW shifter?
I am looking at a couple right mow. I want to lower the car and tint the windows. I plan on doing the shifter over the winter. I'm also going to N.J. in September, so might come back with one.

I wouldn't consider anything else. I tried the Barton bracket, didn't work. The blowfish bracket didn't work. I drove Elton's (Toxix) car that has the MGW installed and it's the best feeling shifter period. Hopefully I'll have one over the winter if I can keep working.

Yup I'm with Ray on this one- I think the MGW race spec is the way to go
Installing one of these bad boys in the next week or two (05 GT / 5.0 3V), driving impressions to follow.

As for shifter, zero doubt MGW has the absolute best shifter for those trans.

MGW is awesome and I am sure the bushing makes a huge difference.
Install video, interested to hear how you like it long term.

The Barton, Steeda, Blowfish brackets and the tranny bushing (Whiteline makes one too) are little fixes to the flaws of the MT-82. Some people have success and others don't seem to. I liked my Barton two post. After I installed it I never had an issue again - including at the track where you know the issue will surface, if it's going to at all.
But researching the MGW, you can see that this isn't just simply a shifter replacement. The design is such that it mounts more directly to the transmission, subsequently preventing that lockout so many experience. It's a serious piece. But it's a significantly more pricey option than the above mentioned fixes (as it should be, of course). It's a new more compact design now too, and easier to install, apparently.
If you can spend the money, the MGW Race Spec seems to be the direction to go.

^ Game changer right there.
I like the feel of the shifter,it make a big difference. What I dont like is the noise, and vibration. I think I'm going to do the little "Drill two holes" trick on the bushing. It's suppose to get rid of the noise and vibration, with out affecting the feel.
That MGW shifter is definitely going to be one of my purchases.:mechanic:
