2014 F150 FX4 Supercab (not crewcab) with 8" touchscreen, Sony 700W sound system with little sub under pass rear seat, no nav.

Looking at replacing all 6 speakers (front pillar tweeters, front and rear doors) and figuring out how to add a real crossover, subs and amps. Will build a cabinet with a 15" or dual 12's. Have lots of high end equipment incl Audio Control, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer CD1000(!!), M+M, Dr. Crankenstein electronics and speakers, etc.
Wondering about the subwoofer/crossover interface.
I know there was some info sent a couple of yrs ago, but couldn't find it. My understanding is the digital signal to the sub and the other amplifiers is not easily converted to analog/RCA 2 volt level which is what I'm after.
Any suggestions or info is most appreciated.

Assuming you want something more high tech than a line level convertor?
Found this with quick google, guy spliced in to factory for RCA connection

Thx, that may work for the sub only, but would like to go cleaner and pull something out that is true pre (Ford/Sony crap) amp.
My understanding is the newer setups (2013 and up) are not so simple to integrate. The end of that thread shows a newer touch screen

What about replacing the factory headunit completely with one that integrates with sync? I know kenwood makes some that will still display sync info and respond to commands with proper interface?
Or theres something like this

Paul. You can use a few different things. JBL MS-8 very nice piece. Audison Bit-One or a JL audio clean sweep. Audio control makes one also forgot model # I think an LC-6.

Do any of these units pull preamp signal out of the source unit, or do they cut down the post amplifier signal?

to my knownledge they pull the preamp signal. I had had the ms-8 it would by pass the built in amp so you could use an external amp. The ms-8 had a 6 channel output. I would not suggest the JL audio one

Hey Paul, I just remembered dealing with you back in the car audio days when you used to work at Pioneer and I was working at Gem-Sen. I still have my KEX-M900 from back in the day from my Mustang when I competed in IASCA!

Sorry Gents, those are all speaker level reducers, I am after getting pre amp level signal. Don't want to change the source unit, since it contains climate controls, Sirius XM, seat heaters/coolers etc/
I thought there were vehicle/brand specific adaptors that will pull the cleanest signal.
Lol - the KEX-M900.......I had a DEXM88, Pioneer's answer to the Alpine 7909.....would likely still use one if I could find one with a tuner module.

You treated me well sir. No worries. It was the mustang that was my savior. I remember your love for mustangs way back when. I remember doing a lot of show and travelling around Ontario.

Oh ok. http://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/line-drivers/overdrive-plus/ This should do the trick then if you want pre amp out. You are trying to clean up the signal if I am reading what you are trying to do? Am I correct?

Nope, this only bumps up the signal level; I am looking for a way to pull a clean, actual pre amp signal out of the Ford/Sony source unit.

after some more research, have decided on a two stage approach.
1) Replace all speakers first, Dynamat everything easily accessible.
Install 8 channel line summing convertor to get rid of all the digital/time delay/compression/processing garbage signal. Even while playing a CD with all functions turned off, the system compresses and changes the signal on its own. No way to defeat the built in processing at the head, so will simply sum all the signals and make a new, single pair of full range 4 volt signal to send to my own analog processors and amplifiers. At this point will also replace the OEM speakers with high grade M+M separates w/ passive crossovers up front; coax's in the rear doors. This will likely be done first, then add the audio converter, one real sub(s) combo for starters. Then full electronic crossover / big power amps and full tuning.

Phase 2 (next year?) will be aftermarket Double DIN with Navigation, touch screen, Maestro integration with Ford Sync and all controls. That is about a grand or more, depending on the head unit. That will have to wait, since the Fox will need more $$ in the meantime.
Thks to BigK / 12V Guy / Steve for your insight. Was nice to see ya and the project Fox - sooo clean and a real serious build.
