Looking for opinions on what you all think is the best looking wheel for a 1997 Rio Red Cobra
Stock with 1" spacers
1998 cobra
2000 Cobra R
03/04 Cobra
Saleens
Other
Right now, I have stock.
Would love a set of the Y2K's, but impossible to find OEM, however LMR has repops but the CDN dollar ruins that.
Everyone has Saleens.
So I guess I'm leaning towards 03/04 Cobra's if I was going to change things up, just wondering what everyone else thinks.

(I'm saying the opposite of what's true for comic effect ...)
Roush wheels do pop up on kijiji and eBay from time to time, but more often they are for the S197 cars. I like the 98 Cobra wheels, but they are only 17x8" and no repros available. The 03 Cobra 10th anniversary wheels can look good too.

I'd go with a custom wheel as opposed to Ford or repro, hre, BBS, xxr, etc.....
These are nice IMO.

I have a set of OEM 2000 Cobra R's they are very wide up front with the offset and 9.5" rim, not sure if you'd have any fitment issues on the earlier sn95's or not...they just barely fit on mine
you may be better off going with the replica as I believe they are only 9" rims
but they do look great!!
same with the Termi wheels or Saleens
have you looked into the 2001 cobra Rim? I had those too...similar to the 03/04 but with a slightly narrower spoke...they look great as well IMO

I like those wheels but not on a Cobra, makes it look like a GT.
If you only want Ford or repro rims I second the '95 cobra Rs in Chrome, need to be good repros if that's what you choose and must have the correct center cap also.

Yes, you mentioned the Roush wheels earlier, and I do like them, but between finding a set and the presumed cost of a rare wheel, these are probably beyond my reach.

Cant really beat the cheap 17" repros from American Muscle for the money. Finish is good, seems to last and take road course abuse, and structurally they are solid, for bouncing over track curbs or doing some high speed agricultural excursions without issues. Lifetime structural warranty too.

17" Borbet Type A's, polished; one was bent thru the hub from a pothole at 80 mph, and those wheels cost $400 each...in 1989
http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg582/tulowd/TU%20LOWD/IMG_4090_zps5458a004.jpg
Of course, the look and finish of the wheels have to match the car, colour and your tastes. Ride height makes a huge diff, as does tinting and how much the wheel wells are filled out. 25" tire dia seems to be the key; darker wheels look smaller, shiny appear bigger. This is why some 18's look great, some don't.
Best value is in 16 or 17 di in terms of weight and cost.
If you're gonna spend a lot more dough, getting a lighter wheel makes sense, but even at $400+/wheel, the only real lightweight 9-10" wide stuff I have found is Enkei RPF1.

You know a good set of Staggered Bullets look great on these cars and you can customized the spokes to what ever colour combo you want.

I never updated this thread with what wheels I decided on!
I ended up picking up a set of OEM 03/04 Cobra wheels, machined finish.
I ran these for 2 years with 1" spacers out back.
In early 2018 I found 2x 10.5" rears, so I was able to eliminate the spacers, and run a bigger tire.
17232
Earlier this year I found only 2 Roush wheels, staggered front and back, so I was halfway to a full set.
17233
Yesterday I won the Kijiji lottery!
17234
17235
A full set, staggered 18x9 and 18x10.
They have been powder coated, and the wheels are in mint shape.
I think I will put them back to Argent with a polished lip, I'm not really a chrome guy.
So I went from zero, to having 6 wheels. Nice to have a spare front and back if ever needed.

I prefer the Cobras but glad you got the set you were searching for. I really hope they aren’t chrome under the paint though, the Roush Chrome job was terrible and even garaged cars would have peeling wheels.

295 out back and 275's up front.
Put the new set up on the car with some 1/4" spacers on the rear.
The rears are still a little tucked for my liking so I ordered some 3/4" wheel spacers from AM.
