fuel line?

well my 1980 is almost ready to plum some fuel line. I have a holley blue pump with no return..going to use my factory fuel sender, Question is can i use regular 5/16 rubber line off the sender to the electric pump and out to 3/8? also how much rubber line can i use before i fail tech at a track? Also what kind of fuel line should i use and i am on a budget?

I believe that the maximum run of soft line you can have is 12" per section. If you go to the parts stores like NAPA or Carquest, they typically have the fuel injection rated hose for not much more than the regular stuff, and it is much higher quality. Designed to be used with this style of clamp though:

For the main bulk of the line you'll need to have steel, aluminium, or steel braided to pass tech.

If you can find it, spring wrapped line, makes it a whole bunch easier to get a pro looking result.

Look for that new easier to bend copper stuff, pretty sure you can get it in the size you're looking for, the less rubber the better. You'd be surprised just how fast rubber corrodes under a car. Running lines is easier than it looks, just takes time to get it right.

What your looking for is Cunifer fuel line. Yes comes in 5/16 or 3/8.
Extremely easy to work with, quality stuff.
Most parts jobber can get it.

I have aluminum 5/8 line going in my car to replace the braided hose in there now. If you use aluminum just be sure to brace it every 12"
