Ok. Im havin a hard time deciding on what colour to paint the engine and what finish to leave on the valve covers and intake. Its going to be a 306 carbed with cast ported 351 heads and the valve covers are the 1985 aluminium powerd by ford ones. Any suggestions or pics be great. Hear is a pic of the engine bay its going in

Do it all flat black, but with chrome headers and air cleaner, but also polish the words on the valve covers, keep the fins black though.

Love the ford blue but why not be different. Black block with aluminum or chrome bits and the odd touch of red to tie in the interior.

I love the ford blue but go different. Go for a gold block. Black valve covers with gold lettering and a black air cleaner with a gold finisher to hold her down.

Either of the above also look cool if you shoot the heads in grey hammertone before installing. Same for the timing cover.

I like the blue alot. Blue block blue heads, black valve cover polished fins and lettering, maybe even the intake black unsure of that one. Cant wait. I get the motor today. Just need head gaskets and the arp head bolts are on the way with the step washers. Button it up paint it the marry the tranny then plunk er in.

Did I miss somewhere what colour the car is going to be?
I like the ford blue/chrome combo on anything but a red car.
Red car should get black/chrome combo with small red accents as pony suggested.

... polish the words on the valve covers, keep the fins black though.
I kind of like the polished fins myself. Plus easier to do.

The car is staying the way it is. All original paint and scratches and the odd dent and the original surface rust. Not going to ruin the car by putting new paint on it. So the colour is grey with the red pin stripe.
