I'd just go with 295s Doug I think your pushing it on the 18s, my 305s fit fine on the 20s just not sure if the 18s will bulge too much I'll see if I can find any pics for ya

looks like some debate 295- 305, ask dasilva or other sponsor. If it is just for street duty wider should be fine.

Diameter is close to stock, so that should be OK. Getting a 305 width tire under an early S197 will need a pretty exact offset on the wheel, I'm guessing around +45 to +50.

Think I was thinking the offset Chris and the fact that 18s to me look a bit small on s197s to begin with

Keep in mind that wide a tire is going to rock chip your rear bumper 1/4 at an expedited rate. Should fit and look good though.

measuring rim on my rear is 11" or should I be looking for some stamped numbers ,aftermarket bullet deep dish

Most likely they an advertised 10'' wide (think its the width between the bead, not overall width)
Many times they will have width, diameter and offset stamped behind a spoke.
