Went to Costco this weekend and thought I'd try my luck in a size 32.... Turns out they fit!! LOL.. :)
Not bad considering I was a 42 dress pant and a 40 jeans just over a year ago.
Down to 193!!! :)
That's awesome, keep it going!

Thanks very much!! I can't begin to go into words how great I feel from starting at 275lbs just over a year ago!! I have boatloads of energy, I'm always positive, but extremely hyper active now..lol
13 more pounds to go to hit my final goal.. Really enjoying using my Total Gym and Elliptical as well. Seems to be the perfect thing when I get home.. 60 minutes workout.. 30 minute hot tub soak and sit back with a warm brandy!! :)

Hey we all fall off the wagon here and there. The important thing is that we get back on and keep on charging to the end goal.. Which is never too far in sight!!
So pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start a new day!!! Today is the first day of the rest of your life!! You all got this!!! :)
Have a great one and remember you're doing it for you!!!! :)

Been quiet in here, how is everyone making out?
don't think I've ever posted in this thread
chiming in because I got weighed this week at the doctor's office....who I haven't seen in 7.5 years
wife has been harping at me to get into the doc after the hell she went through last year....rightfully so as I'm 49.....which means I'm now scheduled in for the camera crew to crawl up my ass in the near future.....oh the fun of getting older
I don't hop on the scale....cause I don't think what the scale says means much in the big picture....so the last time my height and weight were officially documented was 7.5 years ago
my take on keeping yourself in your happy place has exercise as the #1 priority
pick your exercise flavour of choice(s)...whether running, walking, biking, swimming, weights etc etc or whatever combo you can stick with and NEVER miss workouts
eat whatever the fuck you want...drink whatever the hell you want....but make sure you NEVER miss a workout
as the workouts are the #1 priority....your diet actually starts to take care of itself, because if you eat and drink badly all the time then your workouts suffer....and if you eat and drink healthy then your workouts progress...so it's the workouts that keep you in check.....not the scale......you get to eat and drink the bad stuff here and there because you balance it with all the good stuff....and you consistently kick you own ass in the gym
in 31 years of training...or 11,315 days....I've missed probably 15 weeks of scheduled training days
(105 days) due to a variety of circumstances....with the 2 longest being 10 days off in 2001 (driving my dads ashes across the country) and 6 weeks off in 2014 (basement reno which had my gym dismantled during the reno)
so.....
Nov 2008 - 5'8" at 210lbs
May 2016 - 5'8" at 212lbs
I'm far from a saint when it comes to bad habits....but one thing my Doctor didn't tell me was that I needed to lose weight
that's all I got

Making out alright here.. Haven't been on the scale in the past week.. Been eating right and working out as per usual...
Clothes still fit good so I'm happy with that.. Still got the last 10 pounds to shed.. I think next week with Joanna gone for the week I'm gonna put some extra kick on this and try and get the last 10 off and firm up some more.. I do have to say since I cut back on the cardio and uped my weight training I'm firming up faster than I expected!! It's nice when you look down and don't see a gut before you get to se your pecker..lol.. :P

So I'm involved in this program at work called Healthy Trucker.. We have a step competition every other month against other trucking companies involved with the program.. Man I gotta tell ya, with all this walking, running and working out I've been enduring. It's surprising I can still stand up!! LOL..
Instead of sitting around on my breaks I walk for my 2 morning breaks the go for a run at lunch. Did another 4K today at lunch..Day #4 of going for a run... AND still have to get on the Total Gym when I get home and do an hour of elliptical!! I'll be glad when this month is over that's for sure!! But I still got 31 days to my wedding, so looks like no month off for me..LOL..
The way I see it.. If these Iron man people can train for hours on end a day, I should be able to do an 8th of that!! haha.
I will say all the smoking I did for 30 years sure comes back to haunt me when I'm running!! But it will get better, providing I don't keel over first..Lmao!
Hope all the rest of you are coming along so far this summer!! Post up some updates! Good, bad or otherwise!! :)

Awesome job mark, if you don't already know...your body can fall into a slump if it can predict your fitness schedule for the day. Instead of walking on one of your breaks try skipping. But in all seriousness. When I was at the gym before I did some skipping, great cardio! I do like to switch it up so the body doesn't plateau.. At the same time I don't want to over train either.. Still looking for that balance.. But I still like to net a minimum 20,000 steps per day regardless.. These pitchin a fitbits are pretty awesome for keeping me motivated!!

Gotta say its just been a huge struggle this year for me. For the past month gf and I were on a rampage of gluttony and we finally made a pact (again)! to not eat out during the week and not over stuff or eat late at night. Also if possible, buy stuff from the grocery store and make food / save money. --- And Speaking of food...I made some egg noodle tofu meal for myself, amazing what sesame oil can do. I found the secret to making it taste more asian! Sesame oil and soya sauce lol.
The gym has been terrible... I can safely say I've been on Hiatus for around 3 months and i will not include going 2 times on and off here. I'm trying to slowly turn it around. Its tough to commit to something when there's so much stress, at least for me. I still won't give up even if I fail over and over again.

burned the better part of 20lbs in the last 6 weeks
I'm 199lbs today.....haven't been under 200 in 15 years
weighed in at the Doc in late May at 214 and I was behaving....and that was after a 16 hour fast....so I was 218 the next day
I have good habits....and I have bad habits
the best habit is I never miss a workout....the worst habit is I love salt
the issue that got me riled up was the Doc saying the blood pressure is a bit high
then the follow up appt he said the same thing so he sent me for a 24hr BP test
I'm 49
after taking the 24hr test I figured the results would tell me I'm fuct....the Doc is either gonna tell me to burn some weight and strict things up...or he's gonna give me some fucking pill for the rest of my life
so...I stricted it up
1) no beers on days when I'm in the office the next day...so no 3 beer deals over the BBQ while cooking on a Tuesday night etc
2) tossed the salt shaker which had become a very bad habit
3) ditched the asian mystery noodle dish I was eating every workday at lunch (which seemed bland with the skinny noodles, vegetables and mystery chicken but was probably loaded with sodium) and replaced it with the old dependable die hard can of tuna.....I won't do it straight anymore...but a little light mayo and some celery works fine
4) no more gluttony a dinner time......if we cook 4 chicken breasts and Jodi has one....I have 2.....not 3 etc etc etc
5) no more bags of salty munchies...and I don't eat after 8pm
I've always eaten a good healthy breakfast and I eat tons of fruits and vegs....so that has not changed
I still do Friday pizza...still buzz a few good beers on the weekend etc....I've just scaled back the gluttony there a tad too
boom.....20 lbs gone.....I don't have a 6 pack...but I got 4....the last 2 are gonna take a bit of time
so.....I get the follow up from the Doc on the 24 hr BP test
ABSOLUTELY NORMAL
for fucks sakes....so I thought I was gonna be told to shape up and did it without being told....and then I was told everything was good before
but I feel fucking great....haven't lost an ounce of strength in the gym and I'm a fucking machine on the chin-up bar where I'm adding more and more weight to my body now
think I'm gonna go for 190lbs...see how the abs look and go from there
be well folks

I feel your pain on the extra poundage there Brian. I just got back from vacation, and I know I put on a few extra pounds from all the good Polish and French food I consumed!!!
Back to the gym and clean eating to get rid of it so I look better in my suit for my wedding in a few weeks time!!
The fitbit does help as it keeps you motivated to keep you moving. Do your best to get a minimum 10,000 steps per day! If you wanna drop the weight faster, go no carb for a few months and you'll drop 40 before you know it.. It worked for me!!! send me your email linked to the fitbit and I'll add you on mine!!! ^^ I always include them on the day I do arms!!! :)
got a tasty little recipe I whipped up for lunches this week that some of you might find helpful....my wife kinda cringes at my plain bland tuna every day so I switched it up to let her know I'm not completely one-dimensional
imo...one of the best ways to burn some goo is to prep your lunches on Sunday aft....so there's no question what you're eating that day (or for the entire week) because you made it already and you brought it with you
so you won't be tempted to join the troops in the line up at Mr. Sub....or surrender to the Banquet Burger with fries and gravy
it's a quick chicken salad deal that's a breeze to make, very tasty and not too bad for you if you're trying to burn a few...and at the end of the day it's gonna be a lot cheaper on the wallet to boot
here's what you need:
5 boneless skinless chicken breasts
4 stalks of celery
1 red pepper
green relish
dijon mustard
light mayo
black pepper
cook the chicken breasts on a baking tray at 400 degrees for 1 hour....after they cool down, dice the chicken into little itty-bitty chunks (say about 1/2cm cubes) and dump them in a big bowl
slice/dice up the 4 stalks of celery and the red pepper and chuck it into the bowl with the chicken and toss it all up
add the following: (and keep in mind these measurements are approx cause I pretty much just winged it
one tea-spoon of black pepper
3-4 table-spoons of green relish
2-3 table-spoons of dijon mustard
1/2-3/4 cup of light mayo
grab a fork and mix the big bowl of stuff up until you have what looks pretty much like tuna salad
there should be enough grub to fill up 6 or 7 little tupperware things....so you should have lunch for the week
if you're trying to burn goo, don't bother making a sandwich....skip the bread and just grab a fork and eat it outta the little tupperware thing
I'm a big fruit eater...so I typically have 4 pieces of fruit along with this for lunch.... and you won't be feeling hungry after you eat all this...it hits the spot....and you'll probably have more gas in your tank for your workout than if you opted for the burger and fries

the scale read 196lbs on Saturday....so I'm basically burning the better part of 1lb each week and staying comfortably under 200lbs
not bad considering I took a week off in early August and tilted back way more beer than I would have during a work-week
did a number on my right knee on the squat rack earlier in the month too....it felt like a rusty-hinge on warm-up...and I was an idiot and just pushed right through it...musta strained it pretty good cause I was limping for a few days....so no squats for a bit....cranked up the sets on thigh extensions (to 15) and leg curls (to 12) until the knee is back to 100%...almost there now
with the better part of 25 lbs now burned, I've cranked the reps up on the ab workout to 800 now...pretty happy with that

Trust me, after a few days you'll be doing fine.. Just read the labels for carb count. Try to keep your count to between 24 and 40 grams per day. The lower the count the more weight you'll lose. I try to keep mine at 25 grams per day or under. But it's probably closer to 30. Carbs are in everything just about.. Up your fat and meat and veg intake and cut out the white starchy stuff. Bread, Pasta, rice and potatoes.
I did and dropped 90 pounds pretty much without exercising. I am now cause I'm firming up the flab..lol.. But it was all pretty much just that change that did it alone!!
You got this!!! If you have an iPhone. Download the Paleo food app.. It's along side the no/low carb thing.. Just search the food you want to eat and it will tell you no, no go, or be moderate!!
Lemme know if you need anything and I'll help you out anyway I can!! :)

I do all of that as well but I still watch the carb intake. Still try to keep it minimal. Have the bigger steak or the extra pork chop or piece of chicken. Load up on veggies... You're ketosis level will rise which will eat all the fat cells (which is what you want) Since you have no fat to store the body starts using that for energy. (or something like that, I'm no doctor) lol. I just know it's worked fantastic for me thus far..
The app I originally got was just called Paleo food. And yes tweek it cause it says no dairy and I refuse to stop eating dairy..lol.. But when it comes to fats, nuts, produce it will give you a good direction in which to go.
Also check this site out as well..
http://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/foods
Also works as a good guide.. Just listen to your body. It will tell you what you need. Just keep away from the chips'n cookies!! LOL (I miss those) lol And Pizza..lol

all it takes is discipline.... easily said .
i started my life change in july.
-no more white, fast carbs
-sad to say, no more beer,,,,now only red wine and vodka/ water.
-cut out fast foods all together.
-no more chips :(
-egg whites and oatmeal for breakfast.
-increase exercise,,,not a bad thing at all.
don't cut out to many carbs. you need them for fuel. just make sure they are good carbs
lost 30 lbs to date. (just under 5 months)
you can do it if you really want it.
changed my goal of trying to hit high 180s by Nov
feeling really good at mid 190s and I've been holding at 194 for 3+ months
strong as an ox in the gym....abs are there but not ripped
salt shaker is long gone....haven't had a dorito or chips in 6 months
still like my odd beer and pizza....but that's fine imo......cause I'm repping 8 reps per set on the pull up bar wearing a 25lb belt....and 15 reps per set without
plan is to cruise at this weight until spring....and then strict up a bunch pre summer and try and see ripped abs regardless of what the scale says

my bad habit was salt and munchies
most notably...the after dinner snack-fest which would usually involve tearing through the better part of a bag of cool-ranch doritos after a pretty healthy dinner
what got me off the doritos/chips munch fest was......mint
I subbed scotch mints for the salty munchies
the mint flavour immediately cuts out the salt craving....so instead of tearing through a family sized trough of salty danger......I suck on a half dozen mints which kills the craving but still gives me the after-dinner munch fest so to speak
try it....might help
^ Never would have thought, thanks
^ Never would have thought, thanks
it works like a charm
we clean up after dinner......and I go to the same cabinet where the doritos were....and I grab a handful of these mints that are hard until you suck on them a bit then they're chewy....so you get the whole hand-to-mouth habit but they take more work so you can't shovel them back
and the mint completely erases the salt craving
the way I look at it is we all have habits....and some need tweaking instead of trying to wipe out...cause sometimes when you wipe them out you end up binging

Well time for an update......
Had a friend introduce me to a product called Thrive....said ah hell its just another fad....let me tell ya.
Energy levels have increased to insane levels, cravings are few and far between, I have not had 1 coffee or soft drinks in the last 30 days and no caffeine headaches either. I have dropped 12 pounds and I haven't even stepped foot in the gym yet. I think this could be a game changer......goal now is to be under 200 pounds by summer...started at exactly 263lbs.
for those interested in more details message me....

Gotta give it a go not so much for weight loss but overall health . When I think back the most impact was when I was doing something & then there was a trickle down positive effect .
^ Exactly that.
Been inactive too long because of these flipping meds, screw it.
^^^^
there is a level of insanity that you have to install in your brain to never miss workouts....and I don't care if your flavour is 15 minute walks or 15 hour ironmans
you just gotta say "there is no excuse"
if you can get outta bed in the morning and stand on your feet...then you're working out that day
I have reminders over the decades about how we take just freakin walking around for granted
May 1985....I got in a bad street bike crash....2 broken legs, shattered hand, blood clot and other complications.....walked away 3 months later
1997-2002....worked with an awesome dude who ended up in a chair after a car crash......this guy couldn't use his body from the sternum down....and he beat me into the office every damn morning
2015.....Jodi got sick bad......recovery was a serious bitch.....there wasn't an elevator or escalator that she wouldn't take instead of the stairs before all that shit went down......and now she climbs the stairs because she knows how good it feels that she simply can
there is no excuse
sometimes you go down for a workout and you feel like shit warmed over.....and you just go through the motions......better than nothing imo
sometimes you go down for a workout and you feel like complete shit and end up having a freakin awesome workout and wonder where the fuck that came from
sometimes you go down for a workout feeling mint and have a shitty workout...but it's better than nothing
sometimes you limp down there literally fucking wounded but push through a workout...and you feel better between the ears even if your body is saying "thanks a bunch asshole"
and...sometimes you go down there and you get in a zone that makes you feel like you could take a bullet in the teeth and smile......and there is no better feeling
you won't get in that zone if you miss workouts
there is no excuse
merry christmas
^ Yes sir.

So with all the Christmas food temptations, doing pretty decent here. Instead of the usual horsing out on everything in sight, odd cookie or two one day, maybe one the next.

the body is a funny thing
so yesterday morning....I mighta had one of my strongest chest-delt workouts ever....was definitely the best of the year....been really kicking the shit outta my shoulder press this year and it's paying off....throwing the monster dumbells around like nothing
felt freaking awesome
then I walked down the street to buy some fruit at the Loblaws in the aft.....and slipped just slightly on some ice....barely a wobble
and today my left hip feels like a rusty hinge
strong as an ox one day....limping the next
and it's leg day today....so we'll see how the hip likes it
well...there you go
not only was my hip feeling rusty making me limp around.....but it seems lunch wasn't sitting too well either
shrugged it off and had one of my best leg workouts of the year
hip feels mint now
alright...last day of 2016
here's a tip on not letting injury slow you down....adapt and still push like a muther fucker and you'll get through it
2016 reminded me that my knees have 49 years on them
typical leg work out was:
4 sets of leg curls supersetted with 4 sets of stiff-leg deadlifts
3 sets of thigh extensions with both legs
3 sets of thigh ext one leg at a time
around 12-15 sets of squats...5-6 sets building up to max weight...6 sets at max weight and 1-3 sets lighter and just repping out like a lunatic if there was still gas in the tank
3 sets of forward lunges with about 135lbs on the straight bar
I do a 4 day on, 1 day off routine (1-chest,delts,abs, 2-legs, 3-back, traps, 4-triceps, biceps, abs)...so the first 4 days I'll go light (10-12 reps per set) and the second 4 days heavy (6-8 reps per set)....rinse and repeat....the goal is to keep the intensity consistent for each body part while still shocking the muscles by alternating heavy and light workouts...the # of sets per body part are dictated by the size of the muscle (16 on chest, 15 on delts, 40+ on legs, 18 on back, 12 on traps, 15 on triceps, 12 on biceps)...abs are a different story...500 reps each time I hit them...gone as high as 800 reps this year....you can hit them every day if you feel like it
late July on the squat rack my right knee felt like a rusty hinge even on warm up....and I just stubbornly did what I've always done....tightened the wraps, grit my teeth and pushed through it...was repping with 400lbs.....bad result
knee was pooched.....limping on it for nearly 2 weeks...musta strained the tendons and ligaments good
so.....no leg work outs right?
wrong
the leg is basically a big backwards arm (hamstring = bicep , quads = tricep)...and my knee would bend.....so I figured I could still pump the fuck outta the thigh by emulating a quick low-impact arm-style workout
so I started doing this
1 - stretch out the quads and knees
2 - set of thigh extensions
3 - set of stiff leg deadlifts
4 - set of leg curls
then I'd simply repeat the same 4 steps as many times as it took to pump the thigh
started with babydick weight at first cause the knee was not happy but still did 12 rounds...or 36 sets
did this every leg day for weeks....built the weight back up....knee was feeling way better, and by late Sept I was back on the squat rack....and 2 workouts in...was already back to 400+ for reps
difference now was...before I'd do 14 sets before hitting the squat rack....now I'm doing 36 sets before I hit the rack...did I actually get fucking stronger?
all good right?
nope - late Nov I'm repping with 400lbs....and the left knee gives me a sharp pain on rep # 6.....OK....so wisdom finally kicking in...I give it one more rep...pain still there...so I stop....knee was sore for two days but I didn't bugger it right up this time
back to no-squat workouts for two weeks and the knee felt great
but I start doing the math....my legs need north of 300lb reps to make them work hard....anything lower is just warming up....but, between 350-425lbs I seem to be doing something where I'm hanging the knees out to dry....fine....so lets stick to 350lbs then
and I ditched the forward lunges cause the movement is just begging for knee pain....and I've done enough of them over the past 32 years
last leg workout
36 sets of thigh ext, stiff leg deadlifts and leg curls
6 build up sets of squats
12 sets of 350lbs - 10 reps per set
3 more sets of thigh ext (21 style, like bicep 21 curls)
ya think that burned a few calories and pumped the fuck outta my legs?
goal now is 15 sets of 350lbs - 10 reps per set and see if I can walk the next day....cause walking the next day after 12 sets at that weight was a challenge
that's with 49 year old knees that have 100s of thousands of reps on them
don't let injury park your ass.....adapt and kick it's ass
here's to much progress in 2017 to you all

Thanks Mike!!! One day, one workout and one pound at a time.. My biggest hurdle right now is getting in enough calories in a day.. I find with what I'm doing, the shift I'm working I barely get 1000 calories intake per day.. If I have a beer or two after work that will push me over the 1000 but with no exercise I can intake 2200 a day... Man this balancing stuff is a pain in the butt!!! LOL.. I'm still low carb but anything low carb is low calorie...

I've held around the mid 190s for about 9 months now
body feels good and strong....training is going well....and I'm not being super-super-strict...yet still holding a body weight that's 20-25 lbs lighter than it was 12 months ago
don't use the salt shaker any more...don't eat chips....don't crave it
I'm in a spot where if I wanna get ripped to shreds....it's 8 weeks super-strict....and I'm guessing that would mean around 180lbs
not going there atm....happy where I am......but nice to know I'm that close and can stay in the hold pattern...and if something pisses me off I can ripp it up in short order
How is everyone making out?

How is everyone making out?
Its been just over 4 months and i am close to 40 lbs lost...was 309 (fuck me!) and now hovering around 270 with lots more to go. Feels better, looks better and I might just not stroke out by 50 :)
With Cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc running in my dna I'm a prime target for dying young because of being heavy and not eating right.

holding steady at 215 (started july 2016 at 245). Doc is overly impressed with everything so far.
this winter i will start a push for under 200.
summer is just to freaking hard. umm,,,,fun
Started adding Yoga and massage to my preventative maintenance plan. I spend a lot of time on my bike and am starting to think as I get older (37 at the moment) that I need to keep my flexibility up while I still have it rather than trying to bring it back in the future. Been pleased with how it has been going for the last few weeks.
Congrats n thanks for bringing this thread back up.

Joined a weight loss challenge through work, started last week of January. Weighed in today and have dropped 13lbs. Leading the first month so far, only 35 more pounds to go. Then I will set a new goal.

I've never been what most people would consider fat, but the last several years I'd been gaining some pounds around the mid-section, never a good look for a skinny guy. Some of it was from hitting 50, some from sitting in a vehicle for a long commute each day, and some was from having a less physically active job since changing dealerships about 5 years ago.
So about 14 months ago I decided that I needed to do something about it, that and the fact that I could feel my fitness level deteriorating. Now I've been doing a class 3 nights a week where we do some great joint mobility, balance, and flexibility exercises, as well some varied cardio and strength workouts. It has been going well, so a few months ago I made the conscious decision to try to eat and drink less sugary crap, and drink lots more water.
The last month or so I noticed my pants feeling looser around the waistline, so now I've met one of my goals ... I'm able to fit again into my custom fit Nomex fire suit that was done for me around 2001. The last few years I've been having to race in a borrowed suit, now I can use my own again which I was quite pleased with.
Next step is going to be adding a 4th visit each week to the class. There is one on Saturday mornings which has a full 30 minute high rep workout. Tried it last weekend after missing one of the weeknight classes. It was a heck of a challenge, but I got through most of the rounds and wasn't puking at the end, so that's good! LOL
cheers

Great job Ed. It'll probably help your lap times also.
Well that's it Stewart. I'm not overly concerned about the weight so much, but my fitness level was definitely degrading. I should be in better shape to do a 2-hour stint in the Porsche Chumpcar racer that has no power steering. LOL
I'm way too much of a picky eater to do any proper diet. And I love bread and pasta too much, although I know that I should be cutting down on those. Reducing the sugary stuff is a big step.

waistline is made in the kitchen, fitness is made in the gym. A couple of hours on a treadmill are blown away with a dognut or beer.
Exercise can only affect about 30% of caloric intake. If you want to drop weight the only way is calorie restriction. Time restricted, or even better, intermittent fasting (IF) is effective in calorie restriction but even more effective at natural hormone manipulation.
You can reduce insulin sensitivity and increase human growth hormone levels easily. Keto diet coupled with time restricted or IF can address some forms of diabetes.
I wanted to get into single digits of fat% and the only effective way I found was IF. I thought I had 10 pounds to lose and was starting at a fit 190. I'm at 170 and could still stand to lose 2-3 pounds for best power - weight ratio.
The gym is where you build muscle, cardio, strength, flexibility or whatever your fitness goal is. The gym is not effective for weight loss.
Very true what words. I am around 12-14% bf right now at my best estimation. We shall see how the months goes

Part of my back therapy, diet swing combined with IF. Considering Keto diet and time restriction consumption but going to let changes settle before moving forward. In under two weeks, lost 14lbs but more importantly, level of discomfort continues to drop, mobility is on the upswing.
In my case, finally hooking up with someone that knows what they are talking about is making a night and day difference in my life.
Did weekly fast day yesterday, oddly, week before went easier but it was still very doable. Combo of wt falling off and work Rob's doing, back n body feeling better, makes it a bunch easier to push through the days I wanna comfort food binge. What I am finding easier, skipping lunch comes and goes with less resistance from my body as the days pass. On worst of days, small mid afternoon coffee down the hatch and all is well till dinner.
I hear you, time to be really concentrating on this stuff has long since past but is what it is and gonna make the best of what I know now.
As my back continues to get better, upping the ante on exercise via power walking.
While pounds coming off have been slow but steady (down another 3) the difference in how clothes fit has been rapid. Continue to feel better as time passes, energy level increasing and back pain continues to drop off.
Do yourself a solid, start today.

a Natural protein supplement like this one can help curve the appetite/mix with juice or smoothie - will make muscle feel better and high protein can assist in joint care...I use it regularly - I lean to the all natural tho not the hyped muscle head stuff just call me Martha...lol

I tried that in smoothies I used to make too add some protein as I have milk sensitivity (I think the one I had also had several portions of vegetables in it)
I don't know if it was because I was adding minimal liquid (rest was frozen fruits) but it doesn't dissolve right and made the whole drink taste like chalk.

not sure what your down too or the goal but at some point you will find it harder to shed weight - exercise will build muscle and strength and could slow weight lose - a strong core can assist in back strength....
Initial poundage all but flew off, most important part, along with getting smaller my back n overall health have improved huge, nothing but a win.

awesome stick to the plan - it will be the toughest part - all the little things like eliminating cream from coffee, sugar, and beer is a killer- excellent congrats
Surprising to me, finding it easy to stay away from the worst of it like burger, fries, donuts, pop etc.

I looked everywhere for a lean to fat ass thread as I’ve kinda let myself go over the last couple years.
I mean I’m still mountain biking but I eat like crap and hardly ever go to the gym anymore.
3 years ago I was 180lbs now a pleasantly plump 218lbs.
I bought a new Carbon bike that’s 8lbs lighter than my old bike but it’s not really making up the difference.
Guess I have to clean up the mess I’ve made

I see the squat shows 275 x 5
is that not 405 on the bar?
edit....now I'm seeing the deadlift saying 405....but looks like 495
and 255 on the bench that looks like 315
what kind of plates are those?
BOOOSTD
01-09-2019, 09:17 AM
Those are rubber bumper plates on the front squats and bench and a mixture of iron and bumper plates on the deads. I don’t have enough bumper plates yet to cover my deadlifts. I prefer the bumper plates especially for squats because if you don’t make the lift; you just drop it and don’t have to worry about cracking any plates.
In videos, the bumper plates are difficult to tell what is being used as they are the same size as an iron 45 but the thickness is different; that’s why I paste it in the corner.
Here are the increments plus add another 45 pounds for the crossfit bar.
Front squats 275 - Pair 45’s, 35’s, 25’s, 10’s
Bench 255 - Pair 45’s, 35’s, 25’s
Deads 405 - 45’s x3 pairs, 35’s, 10’s
Thanks!!

What are some of your PB's Timmy?
I haven't been doing any power lifting in a long time, but did set some personal bests in cycling last year, peak power (I use a power meter that measures the amount of force I apply to the pedals) saw an increase of over 10% year or year, 3 podiums in provincial level road races and 3 more top tens for the 6 provincial road races I entered last year (fields varied from 30-90 participants). Rode over 13,000 kms in 398 hours which was a PB for distant and hours of riding in a year. Completed my longest ride (245km) and my biggest 2 day total (405km). Highest average pace road race was in Italy, 120km, 800 metres of elevation at an average speed of 40.9km/hr. Two weeks ago I completed the fastest 40km I have ever ridden in 50:45.
What are some of your PB's Timmy?.
at almost 52 I don't do max weight PBs anymore....just try to do lots of volume
best bench - 365 for 2
squat - 465 for 1
deadlift - 495 for 1
that was approx 182lbs @ 5'8"
haven't touched a straight bar on the bench in probably 6 or 7 years....just monster dumbbells and lots of sets
knees over the past few years have been telling me that they're not happy over 400lbs on the squat any more....so I just stick to sets of 350 x 8 and see how many sets I can do (typically do about 12 sets with that)
don't have an olympic bar so haven't done a lot of deads in recent years.....50lb metal plates on the 1" bar sit quite a bit lower than the 45lb olympic set up
just went to the fitness depot site and getting a bunch of bumper plates and an olympic is not very expensive now
back when I put my original home gym set up together (1992) a 45lb olympic bar was $300+ just for the bar ($300 seemed like big coin back then so stayed with the standard 1" bars)....now they throw in 200+ lbs of weight plus some spring collars

Sustained power max is 326 watts for 20 minutes
308 watts for an hour
Great numbers Tim
The positive results keep on coming, lost another couple of pounds plus continue to get smaller.
Ordering a new car target of 200 is only 17lbs away, better set up an appointment with Bill.

I admire your stamina to get the result you want. I've lost mine but need to do something about it.

Great job sticking with the program Rick! So easy to be tempted by food that you always enjoyed so much.

Holy fak for real 217 ? Wow
Thanks guys.
FYI to anyone of the fence, if this fossil can do it, anyone can. Trick for me, great support system plus sticking to a program that is realistic enough to be the new norm. Shitty part, tried on my sled clothes today, jacket looks ridiculous on me / made by Omar the tent maker...............I'm good with dat.

Now you have room for a sweater over a sweater while wearing a sweater....
Tim Allen had said something like like dat.
"Sausage wrapped in bacon, wrapped in Canadian bacon."
"Pigs in a Blanket wearing a Parka"

Well,, I have some questionable news. Started resistance training 3 weeks ago. And..I'm up 5 lbs... What the fuck....still doing cardio... Hope it is temporary .
Guess I should not pay so much attention to the scale and pay more attention to my pants belt loup position. Which has not changed. IDK

maybe just built a little mass - thicker muscles - I really need to start doing something again...
Stay away from the scale, judge progress via tape, mirror or how clothing fits.

Start dialing Bill now. That is great to hear Rick.
Combo of dropping wt plus magic Rob's done with my back has reduced discomfort substantially.

I'm waaay to old for that type of lifting (much respect though). All I can say is be super careful of your joints. My shoulders are on a constant yellow alert as a result of heavy lifting. Likewise the bottom 5 lumbar disks are all compressed. A good amount of my training is physio in nature to retain function rather than make gains. I try to tailor my training to allow me to do the things I enjoy. I'm going skiing in NY next week, mountain climbing in Mexico after that. Snowshoeing in the Adirondacks after that.
Nothing like feeling strong and fit though, good on you.
I hear ya and I'm no spring chicken for this game either....but as it stands, I have absolutely no joint pain and I'm being as cautious as possible. That said, I do a lot of other activities to contradict the compression movements which helps keep me loose. Thanks!!

Picked up these at Costco in Ajax and been chowing down on them. I must say they are one of the better bars I have eaten.
