1. A two spin rule will be enforced for all track sessions.
2. After the first incident, the participant will be black-flagged (see Flags) to come into the pits. In the pits, the participant will be counseled and advised that should this happen again the participant will be brought off the track and not allowed to drive for the remainder of the day.
3. If any participant spins their car or leaves the track with all 4 wheels two times in one event day, they will be required to leave for the day on the second incident.
so... how strict is this rule?
Private lapping day is entirely different animal.
Basically comes down to this
-helmet for driver and passenger
-soft tops up
-clean out your vehicle interior of all objects including in your door pockets, console and glove box, yes floor to
.
-arms and hands must remain inside vehicle at all times
-cameras must have a tether strap, must remain inside vehicle at all times
-vehicle must arrive in safe condition
-torque all wheels prior to entering the track (tq wrench n socket combo from CTC or Princess Auto is dirt cheap). Good idea to recheck after wheel n tires have cooled down.
-passing on the first and second straight aways only.
-passing only permitted after being acknowledged by the vehicle out front via hand signal and or signal light. No hand signal or turn signal = DO NOT PASS / NO EXCEPTIONS. All passing is done on the right only.
-ok so you've signaled a faster vehicle to pass, lift on the accelerator to make it easier / safer for them to get by. Never ever ever make it a drag race to the corner, no good will come of it.
-allow faster vehicles to pass in the two passing zones. Meaning, if your fast down the straights but no so fast in the corners, do not hold up the guys that are.
-if you spin, come back on when safe and drive slowly (off line please) with your 4 way flashers on, exit track and report to starter area. Vehicle needs to be looked over for damage, starter will assist you on ways to avoid a second occurrence. Don't panic, your not in any trouble, however, starters instructions must be followed.
-if your vehicle becomes disabled or is unsafe to drive back to the pitts, drive off the edge of the track with your 4 way flashers flashing, shut vehicle off and wait for assistance. Never ever start walking back on the track, stay inside your car.
-flag mans signals are to be followed at all times. If you see the white / last lap flag, make one and only one more lap. If he's waving the checkered / session is over flag, make your way off the track and into the pits.
-when exiting the track, hand signal or signal lights and exit at a safe speed, slow right down as you approach the paddock, extra slow back to your pit area.
-to enter the track, pull up the staging area and wait for the flag mans signal, never enter the track until given the go ahead.
-if you see a blue flag waved in your direction, faster car wants to pass and you've been holding them up. Allow them to pass at the next opportunity but of course only in the two passing zones.
-never try to wave another vehicle past outside of those zones. Never pass another vehicle outside the passing zones. Flag man see's you, he will black flag and have you leave the track and come over for a chat.
-again, flag man runs the track and his instructions must be followed, no exceptions.
-if you see a red flag, slow down, 4ways on and pull off the track and stop. Do not get out of your car for any reason, keep your eyes towards the flag stand for further instructions.
-yellow flag, debris on the track or perhaps a vehicle is blocking a portion of the track. Slow down, way down and approach with caution keeping half an eye towards the flag man for further instructions.
-black flag pointed at or waved clear enough that you know it's meant for you. Either you've got a problem with your car or you've done something the flag man needs to chat about. Exit the track on your next time round and see flag man.
Each flag man will have his or her variation of what each flag means, will be fully explained at the drivers meeting in the morning.
Cars are typically divided into two groups, experienced and novice. If you've been there before and are comfortable with things, pick the group that best suits. If your a first timer or more gentle driver, head out in the novice group and move up if your more comfortable later.
Please do not run both groups. If your a faster car, not fair to the less experienced guys, if your a slower car, not fair to the faster guys. Get seen slipping your way out in both groups just to double your lapping time, black flag baby.
Less experienced drivers, don't overdue it. All too easy to get caught up in the excitement and push yourself or your car too hard for too long. Actual time available to be on the track is huge, don't worry if your tired and sit out a session or two.
We do typically break for lunch, track shuts down.
Ok so I've likely forgotten a few things, sure I'll bore everyone with the drivers meeting chit chat, will do my best to keep it short.
Please ask questions if your not sure. Only dumb question, the ones you don't ask.
Feel unsure about being out of the track for the first time, reach out to one of the more experienced guys and ask em to ride along to help show you the ropes.
Cruise around the track with Doc Toronto riding shotgun.

Download an App called Track recorder (by the same app developer that created torque).

For those attending for the first time don't give it a second thought. Last year was my rookie season and I can tell you it's a great track and environment for learning. It's VERY addictive and it's also a blast to ride along with the members who have the experience. It's lapping and not racing so no pressure. Attend the driver's meeting and ask any questions you might have. Everyone is there to have fun and support one and other. If you have decided to play on the drag strip too, it is also the perfect environment for learning. No pressure and lots for members there to help you if you have questions or need coaching. Last year I couldn't believe how the entire day passed by and I didn't touch base with everyone and say Hi. Make sure you take a few minutes and introduce yourself. It will be great finally putting faces to names. A couple pieces of advice I found important last year were not to park and apply your e brake after lapping on the road course and remove all loose items in the glove compartment, armrest & trunk. I brought a small section of 4x4 lumber and used that as a wheel chock. If you pull you e brake when the brakes are red hot bad things happen to the pads when they cool. Bring a camera too!

Same offer here if anyone wants ....although I think Matt and Brad are better instructors. Certainly two of the best. I learned from them my first time out.
Here's a suggestion for the organizers: maybe run the advanced group first so the rookies can get a ride along? I think the rookie group typically goes out first, don't they?

I've seen it before where someone from the track would lead the new guys out (was it in a Benz?) to show the line as the first session. trouble is, only the guy directly behind him sees the correct line. most others back in the pack get off line and learn little. I like when the experienced guys do ride alongs first time out.
if you don't mind a hand on your thigh when he's not shifting ... lol
Said you wasn't jealous, obviously the truth was not spoken in this matter.
Normally do have an experienced car lead the first lap, also try to have another experience car mid way back in the pack.
Yea, Uli and i used to do parade laps for newbies all the time, usually toss someone with experience mid pack. and that benz was nice to drive on the track lol.
We still do Kev. Suspect Matt missed seeing it while looking for his wheel lock key. :)
lol.
the best advice i ever got for a track day "don't be afraid to ask questions" everyone is there for the same reason, to have fun and to learn.

saw it. just don't like it. don't feel it helps guys that are a few cars away from the leaders, thats all. brake points and turn ins get all messed up in parade traffic. just my $0.03.
and the wheel lock was at the end of the day ;)
Easy fix with a couple or three more experienced cars added to the mix.

For some reason, we always see a very small number of new drivers arrive in time for the morning drivers meeting. As such, opportunity to explain the track rules and options to grab a ride along go out the window.
Open to suggestions, hate to see it come to miss the meeting you miss the morning session. Option to have ongoing drivers meetings all morning is not going to happen but perhaps a second meeting before we go back on after lunch is in order.

Is there a dead line for signing up and are people still entered into the draw for the tool set (track and strip sign up).?
The parade lap is not so much for the turn in points and braking zones, but more for the people that have never seen the track before, a track map doesn't really show it, so its nice to do a slow lap so people can see how the track is laid out. where to enter where to exit the track, general racing line, and where the turns are.

Just need to do a brake bleed again after running 2 days the last few weekends at Mosport DDC. Then decide if I'm going to bother with switching wheels & tires at the track, if so that means load up the trailer with those plus assorted gear. I might be lazy and just run on street tires, we'll see.
cheers

Don't recall but know it's never been very much.

Last time it was $5.00 for spectators, but best to check with Reon.
No need, just got off the phone with Joe, spectators are $5.

Way to put the pressure on a guy, thanks! LOL
No video from DDC, was just on street tires so it would have been boring. A friend did lend me a camera setup a while back, but I just unboxed it this week. Need to grab an SD card for it apparently, not included.

Pretty sure you can walk up to almost any car heading out onto the RC and ride co-pilot. Most guys will appreciate the weight balance ;)
Just bring/borrow a helmet.

Sounds just like my dad. He has been looking for a car for at least 7 years. If you can get him out of my passenger seat and sometimes even the drivers seat your more then welcome to ride along

Emailed Reon for the drag strip. Can't wait to get out this year!
Well I just put a call in to DaSilva...... I have decided to not run the 1/4 mile this time out, the car isn't where I wanted it for the drag strip. So with that I gave Reon my credit card # and told him to sign me up the road course instead!!
