Whats everyone running in their car?
This is my first mustang and my first mod was a Pro 5.0 shifter. That was last summer, after putting some km's on it and breaking it in I can say Im very impressed with it. My only problem with it is that the handle is a bit short. Im thinking either make the stock handle work or pick up a hurst/steeda handle.
Interested in hearing what others have to say.. anyone running a MGW? Looks to be built better vs. the pro 5.0

I always ran the B&M both on my mustangs and on the Porsche. Loved them, little notchy on cold startups but once warm no missed shifts. It will be one of the first mods on the Saleen.

I have the Pro 5.0, Steeda Tri-ax and MGW
Pro 5.0 with Stock Handle
Steeda Tri-Ax with Stock Handle
MGW with extreme short handle which you can't get anymore (Brother's '89 Notch)
Between the 5.0 and Tri-ax I prefer the 5.0
The MGW, although probably the best quality is a bit too extreme for daily driving and road course, however extremely fitted for the strip...the amount it moves from 1st to 2nd is like going from 1st to Neutral with the 5.0 and Tri-ax and very tight and percise...

I run the mgw orange handle shifter in my car and I love it. I broke a steeda triax handle and a (unknown name) billet handle while drag racing, have a couple hundred passes under belt with the mgw and haven't broke it yet.

Never really been a fan of short shifters on the newer cars. Although I wish I had one in my 91 5.0
I've also run the full gambit (except mgw but have driven several rides with em). My preference is what I'm currently running in the Cobra. Pro 5.0 with a custom handle. One they include is way too short, stock handle on their shifter is not a bad combo. I give the Tri-ax props for being a decent shifter but it falls well short of the Pro5.0.

I run the newest gen MGW in my cobra, and also had their first gen in my last 2000 GT. Love it! Best shifter IMO...Pro 5.0 i liked better than a Tri-ax, felt smoother gear to gear but cant get close to the shifts of MGW. Daily drove with it and no complaints, i will admit though at first its very notchy feeling and you really feel the shifts but it gets better after it breaks in a bit!

There's my setup. I use the hurst handle at the track and mgw handle on the street.

Bad pic... Steeda tri ax with Hurst handle & knob. Not a 100% on the Steeda part but love the Hurst parts. I have never tried any other shifters so I can't compare.

In my foxes I ran the Hurst SST (Super Short Throw) and loved it. very notchy, very short, precise. never missed a shift on the road course. Not sure if it is still available though. I used the Hurst chrome stick but switched between the while ball and t-handle.

In my 2003 MAch1 I have a Steeda Tri-Ax. I like it but it is not as precise as the Hurst I had in the foxes, and I miss the occasional 2-3 shift at the track. I also hated how far forward the shift was into 3rd and 5th. It felt like I was going to bust my hand through the stereo each up-shift. So I made a bracket like one shown above to move the handle back and down a bit.
Here is my sketch, cardboard template and the end result fabricated from steel plate:

Here it is showing the difference in position between a short Hurst shifter in the original position (black) vs the new position with the Steeda handle:

And here is the new position completed with the Hurst chrome shifter and t-bar handle from my fox. However, I have since changed this to the short black handle above with a black Hurst ball (no pics yet):

^^^ made the same type of bracket for my pro 5.0 in the Cobra and now love it. No long reach for 3rd and 5th anymore.

I run the Hurst Competition Plus in my S197.
Not the finest unit out there but the price is right, it's good and notchy and gives me the old school white ball I've had in every mustang I've owned.
And yep it rattled until I wrapped Teflon tape on the threads and shot some deep creep in the mechanism.
Do like the feel of the MGW in a 197.

I've run most of them. Hurst in the 04 and hated it. Swamped it out for MGW. Will never go back.
Ran Pro-5.0 on the Viper spec, it was great also.
Ran a Tri-ax on the 87(t-5) and hated that one also. Swamped that out for the MGW and loved it.
Might have been driver error. But the Hurst and Tri-ax I was always missing shifts. Never missed one on the MGW.

That first to reverse shift is a real bitch when you don't stick it.

Sorry I don't have any pictures of my MGW shifter other than the one GR posted of it. That was about 9 years ago that I bought and installed it. What I can tell you is that the pro5.0 that was in my car was terrible. The springs wouldn't even pull the shifter back to the neutral position from between 1st & 2nd. Love my MGW shifter, IMO it's the best quality, the springs are amazing, not too many missed shifts. Now that my transmission is broken if anybody wants to buy my MGW shifter let me know LOL. I will be putting a Tremec TKO in my car at some point and will be putting an MGW shifter on it.
