Alright I’ll try and keep this one short cause it’s a daily.
The wife’s 2011 VW Jetta 2L gas was getting up there (400.000kms) and it was time for a replacement.
Originally I was looking at Audi A5 coupe’s with the S-line trim however she wanted a smaller SUV so my search began.
She liked the VW Taos and I squashed that one immediately after a test drive and moved onto other brands and narrowed it down to the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V.
We currently own a 2015 CR-V that my daughter drives and it’s been a great vehicle so we stuck with what we trust.
SO for once we got something that isn’t black and we both liked the colour.
It’s a 2024 CR-V sport in meteoroid gray with blk interior.
While looking at it at the dealership my wife said “I know you’re thinking something so if we buy it I want you to do the things you would do if you were driving it”,
SO I took over negotiations and got Honda to tint the front windows to match the rears and also include the front and rear Honda rubber floor mats. 2024 models were also eligible for a $1500 price reduction so it was a done deal.
We drove it home and immediately added tinted licence plate covers and washed it to remove all the tire shine that was all down the sides and the wax off the roof they half ass removed before the sun baked it into the paint.
I also scored a Honda rubber trunk mat locally for $60 off Kijiji that Honda wanted $200 for.
Next came removing all the tires and painting the brake calipers black, waxing the rims and installing new black wheel nuts purchased from Amazon.
Next was having a TAG tracking device installed to save myself $30 per month on insurance.
As the CR-V is the top stolen vehicle in Canada and U.S.
Next was the vinyl chrome delete and a nicer black CR-V emblem for the rear (from Latvia).
(All black added was in semi gloss to match the lower trim).
And last was a wash and wax using McGuires products.
This was all completed before the odometer hit 700 kms.
The wife loves how it looks now and really enjoys driving it. (amazing on gas).
She’s even quick to point out the cosmetic mods to her family and friends lol.
It has tech but nothing crazy and it’s very user friendly.
Here is a couple pics I took once it was completed.
You will now notice the other 100000000 on the road with a chrome CR-V emblem on the left side and a black emblem on the other side. (So dumb).
