You name your rides?

Ever since the kids were little they have been helping name the cars we have owned. Past trucks were Blue Lightning and Blackout.

Long story long for those interested.

our first ever pop up trailer was a really ugly 1970’s foldout that was a mix of dark red, green and grey. The kids were like 4 and 6 at the time and we took the (to them) longest trip ever (2 hours) to pick it up just outside of Mansfield Ontario. This trailer really made their love for camping take off and despite being old and ugly and in constant need of repairs. Served us for a couple years and started many many happy memories. It affectionally became known as “Mansfield”.
It’s the only trailer they named

I recently picked up an old Ford 8N tractor that once fixed will serve for cutting grass and blowing snow. I had mentioned to my wife that it reminded me of Mansfield. Since it is red frame with a grey hood and loader assembly is green. (It was also the longest drive ever to pick it up at over 8 hours round trip)

Anyway last week I found out that my kids had named it and I could not be prouder.

“Sir Henry Mansfield the second”

We have no names yet for the Jeep or the Thunderbird

But everything else is as follows

“Gramps” is my Allis Chalmers B that my grandpa bought new a long time ago

“Workaholic” is my work vehicle bronco sport

“Blizzard” is our current 2023 F150

“Dob” (dirty ol bastard) is the 35 Plymouth.


I know lots of guys name their cars so lets hear them. And the story why if there is one.

My 17 Mustang GT is named Sinister and is the only car I refer to as a male.

Sinister was named by a friend of mine because the car looks and sounds so hateful (which I love). I even have another set of plates for it that say Synister but can’t bring myself to take off the current plates as I like them too much.

The X3 is nicknamed Sonic, because it’s blue and fast…

Called it "Texas" —Don't usually name my stuff (most are just shit boxes). This was a custom purpose build so it got a name. Pic from 2015. May pull it from the moth balls this winter. Been mulling over some of my old stuff lately. That's a lot of mulling lol.

Owned the 03 Cobra for 16yrs and call it “the black car” or Cobra.

Others always seem to refer to them by their personalized plate. WIDOWR and SNKEBYTE

My girls named the 66 coupe “Ruby” because it’s red and a real gem and my wife named the 69 Mach “Max” because it’s loud and obnoxious like the Mad Max Interceptor.
