My old plastic 2 gallon Wedco gas can developed a pin hole leak.RIP.

I was briefly looking at new gas cans and they aren't like they used to be due to government environmental regulation BS.
I notice they don't have the small vent cap anymore.

Lots of people complain that many of these new gas cans suck,eg poor flow, more spillage, leaking in storage, overall poor quality/poor design.
Some recommend getting aftermarket spouts.

Canadian Tire,Home Depot and Rona just carry the Scepter brand.Don't know if they are any good.
What's a decent quality 2-1/2 gallon,10 liter gas can these days?

Any source for new old stock real gas cans out there?

I have a can like this. It's pretty pricey. May have to buy flexible filler hose separate. Very easy pour especially hard to get at filler nozzles like a Jeep. But works great with the flexible filler hose. Its a clear rubber type hose that withstands fuel. Works great tho and easy to carry. Says its available at Princess Auto

OP, I know how you feel, I went through a similar experience 3 years ago. My 10L Wedco gas can sprung a leak after filling it up at the gas station, that was a fun time.
After reading all the complaints about the "new and improved" gas cans, I still went a head and purchased a Scepter gas can with the yellow spout and hoped for the best. Surprisingly, it works perfectly fine with no pouring issues. Just make sure to position the smaller (vent) tube on top when tightening down the spout before pouring. It'll flow just fine.

I haven't looked at the Scepter 10L gas can with yellow spout in person yet.
How would you rate the overall build quality,eg,solid or flimsy?

The Specter gas can doesn't have the same solid feel as the Wedco gas can. But it's still plenty strong for the intended use of storing fuel. I do like the locking cap design and the thick gasket on the spout better than the Wedco can.

I bought this 2 years ago. Best gas can I have ever used. I can control the flow.

I notice the Stihl dealers carry those for around $42.
Is it awkward to hold and pour when heavy?

Not at all tbh. It automatically shuts off when full too but I shut off manually once I am nearing my limit. You rest the nozzle inside the opening and push the button.
