I am in the east end of GTA does anyone have a recommendation to take my 66 for a wheel aliment?

New to the GTA and looking for someone who can work on my 66, that knows classic cars, I can do most things myself but something just need more experience than my backyard mechanics.

ZR is the one that you want to talk to. Send him a pm to arrange an appointment.

Welcome to TMC. It’s good to see another classic around. ZR is your guy for mechanicals.

If he can’t help you on the alignment, shoot me a PM. I have a good contact but you’ll need to travel about an hour north of the city.

Yes, the member ZR is the one to contact in the GTA for car work. Not sure if he has the equipment for alignments though. I've taken my 88 mustang to Level Auto near Kingston rd and Birchmount and had good luck.

Hi,
Sorry can't help you with the alignment but Uncle Buck (Al) can hook you up with an alignment shop that does. Anything else except body n paint we do.

i recently had my alignment done at KHF Motors, at 82 green lane in thornhill. they seemed very knowledgeable and efficient.

^ Most shops can't deal with older car alignments.

^^ this

I took my 66 to a shop I’ve used for my daily drivers.

They got it right after 5 hours and billed me by the hour.

Since that experience, I’ve been fussy where my classics go.
I’m now using an old timer with an ancient Hunter alignment rack. It never takes too long and the cars drive well.

Just curious as to why?

They don't have the experience on how to adjust or what to adjust to, much more to it than setting to what a machine tells you.

Didn’t want to start a new thread. Need a new alignment guy. Bob is long gone, but the guys at Auto1One were still doing alignments. Now they seem to be gone also! Replacing tie rod ends this weekend and will need an alignment. Just a daily driver, doesn’t need racecar specs. Anything reliable in the 401 corridor between say Woodbine to Leslie?

Spoke with the guys at Auto 1 in mid August, target was to close up and retire by Sept.

I would think that for a late model daily driver you can go just about anywhere with a decent machine.

Sadly results have very little to do with the machine, operator that knows / cares is the key.

Only changing tie rod ends? Check it with a tape measure on the front and rear of the tread and adjust as needed.

Update: called Auto1One a.k.a. Bob’s Alignment in Scarborough. No answer, so left a message. No return call, but since I was heading out that way anyway, decided to drop by in person to book Monday appointment. Get there and the place is closed up! So instead, decide to book an appointment at Active Green & Ross on Sheppard. Literally a stone’s throw from my office, so convenient if nothing else. After booking, I get a call back from Auto1One a day later. Not out of business, just moved to a new location!
Well shit. I’m already booked at AG&R, so sticking with that.
Over the weekend, get all my front end work done, and bring it in for an alignment this morning. Ready to hand over the keys, and the guy looks out the window and says: “oh, we don’t do trucks, can’t fit on the rack.” WTF? Then why did you accept the booking? :slap:
And it’s not even a full size truck LOL.

Get back on the phone with GTA Automotive, a.k.a. Auto1One, a.k.a. Bob’s Alignment, and they say I can bring the truck right in and do it right away. :highfive:

Best part is: they speak back-yard-mechanic. Told them I put new tie-rod ends on over the weekend, and they were like: no problem! Well line that up for ya!
Turns out I got the toe set perfect, just needed to line up the steering wheel.

Anyway…. to summarize a long story: if anybody is looking for Bob’s Alignment in Scarborough, they are now at 1309 Kennedy, just around the corner from where they used to be.

Probably a good thing that Active Green & Ross didn't do the alignment.
