I don’t agree with a lot of the modern stuff they listed and Calling a V series Cadillac a sleeper is laughable.

IMO from my generation of cars Thunderbird/ cougar with the 3.8 SC.
And the mark 8’s because everyone thought they were old man cars.

Agree with some of them, especially the Taurus SHO and the Chrysler 2.2L turbo cars. That SHO spanked many a Mustang and Camaro back in the day.

No mention of the late 90's Buick Regal or Pontiac Grand Prix with the 3.8 S/C. Those were true sleepers. Another sleeper was the late 80's Dodge Caravan with the 4cyl turbo mated to a 5spd manual.

Of what’s listed I would agree with the turbo GMs, and was actually gonna say the Syclone/Typhoon before I even clicked the link. To me they’re a really cool, and quick small truck, something that wasn’t common at the time and could catch people by surprise.
As for the G35/37 sedan, that’s my daily and it’s pretty quick, but I wouldn’t call it a sleeper…..and for the record, the red one posted at the end of the paragraph looks more like an M35, not a G.

itv kind of depends on your definition of a sleeper. back in the day you could factory order a base model full size Ford galaxy with a 427 twin 4-barrel engine,, Chevy impala with a 427, a full size Plymouth or dodge with a 426 hemi or a Pontiac Catalina with a 421 super duty tri power.
to my mind, a 1964 studebaker Avanti with the r2 supercharged engine was a street sleeper if ever there was one. in 1964 Andy Granatelli set a Bonneville speed record in a sort of stock Avanti at 178 miles an hour, a record that stood for decades.

A friend knew a guy that bought a brand new 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo 2.2
It was such a pos lemon with numerous problems that he eventually drove it back to the dealership,handed them the keys and walked away.

I always find these lists funny. Naming some of the best sleepers of “all time” is a bit of a stretch with most of these on the list. Some were “sleepers” in their day but comparing them with late model cars would be laughable. That’s why I think these “all time” lists are a joke.

The average late model sporty car/SUV (especially from Germany) these days would embarrass most of these. Heck a boring late model V6 Camry would humble most on the list. LOL

Also calling any sports car like a firebird or corvette is never a sleeper in my book.

Assuming this was meant to be era specific sleepers, I am surprised stuff like the Dodge Magnum Hemi V8 wagon, the supercharged 3800 V6 GM sedans and 80/90s BMW 5 series sedans didn’t make the cut.

Growing up we had a new (at the time) 1985 Chrysler New Yorker 2.2 turbo. It used to eat transmissions and ac compressors like crazy, lost count how many times it didn’t start. It was a complete POS.

actually, now that i think about it, you could factory order the same supercharged engine in a totally non-descript Studebaker Lark 2 door sedan. now that's a sleeper
