1990 LX stalling out

Driving home tonight and car runs great, then check engine light on, lack of power ( engine still running) but no power. Pull over and can restart and drive on for abit , then it does it again. Feels like electrical cut out , but weird that engine still running. Brutal when this happens. Any ideas ??? Pick-up heats up and cuts out ?????
