Though it might be an idea to have a thread specific to garages in terms of upgrades tools equipment. Ect.

I’ll start off

My 60 gallon air compressor is in its temporary location. Eventually I’m building a little side room off one end of my shop to put the compressor as well as air exchange equipment/ dust collection.

I really don’t want to lag into the floor right now since again it’s in a temp location but with the new smooth floor I can’t get the compressor to stop dancing around and rattling

Any suggestions on how to keep it in place and quiet?

Grab a large pallet and bolt it down to the pallet temporarily. If you wanna get real "fancy" build some temp walls around it on pallet and stuff with batt insulation to deaden sound.

Vibration isolators did wonders for mine. Bolted to the isolators, but the isolators aren’t bolted down. Hasn’t moved at all.

Also had my compressor balanced. That also made a huge improvement both for noise and ‘dancing’

I didn’t try a pallet but just some block of wood. Made it worse. Lol damn thing tried to make a break for it out the door. Power cord was like leash on a dog.

Are they specific for compressors? That might do the trick

Have a CT purchased Lincoln 180 mig pac its a 220 and has done me well for quite a few years. Lately it will be welding fine and then just go to crap. loses voltage and you have to wiggle the voltage dial to get it to come back.
Just wondering opinions on if it’s worth trying to fix/find parts vs replacing. Not looking to spend a ton of money right now. But repeatedly loosing power half way threw welds is getting old real fast.

I would look for a used OE Lincoln to replace it. Big difference between big box and OE version welders.
You see lots of barely used sets up on FB Marketplace.

Anecdotal, but the explanation I got from the welding shop I got my SP-125 from was that the difference between the OE and the Big Box versions was where the transformers were manufactured.

Also a substantial difference in the feed mechanism and wheels.
Shitty deal for consumers as on the surface they look like the same machine but at a lower price.

I have a have a small miller tig and it would act up in my old garage when it was cold and very damp. works fine in dry conditions.

Same model at CT right now is showing over $1100.00 like everything else. Just nuts. I have had no luck even finding parts online other than cables.
