I think most people think 'The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald' when they hear the name Lightfoot, for me it's the following, would play this song over and over and over when I was younger, love the unconfirmed hidden meaning type songs and although the song is pretty clear what it's about... after all these years, still speculation on who it's about even after multiple interviews with Lightfoot himself :)

RIP Gordon Lightfoot. My friends parents were close friends of Gordon and he was a legend on a different level for me.

Rest-in-peace...One of my best memories is having helped with the setup of his last concert in Timmins and enjoying the show afterwards. Remember him walking around pre-concert to check things out.

In my top 3 when I think “what is iconic Canadian music”

Stomping Tom
Tragically Hip
Gordon Lightfoot

So many other great Canadian artists and bands, but for me, this is the top 3 for me that represent.

Sundown, such an amazing song. It’s on my Spotify play list. So many good covers of that song also. You know you are a great when bands are covering your songs.

RIP good sir.
