Do CRT/tube TVs still get used or do they just go to recycling?

I have a Panasonic 34-inch HD CRT/tube TV (1080i, 780p, DVI output for HDMI cable connection) that is in perfect working condition (last glass tube CRT they made and last they made in Japan) - do people still use these for gaming, etc or better to just take it to recycling. May post on Kijiji to see if anyone wants it but guessing I'll probably still have to deal with crazies even with a freebie. It's a big, heavy unit (couple hundred lbs). Anyone still use these?

Pretty much useless nowadays but I’m sure there’s a niche market for them.

My old neighbours were ministers at a local church and mentioned that people kept trying to donate old tube tvs and they wouldn't take them because no one wanted them. And this was 7-8 years ago. With how cheap LCDs are now free must be the going price.

I gave away my old 15" LCD over the summer. So many crazies on Kijiji but eventually it went. I'd say post it and leave it outside for the first taker.

Thanks - would like to give it away so someone else gets use from it instead of going to recycler/landfill. The picture quality on this TV is better than a lot of cheap HD LCD/LED TVs when using the DVI>HDMI adapter....the issue is the size/weight of the unit.

Maybe check to see if any movie/tv prop companies would want to buy it? For when they film something that takes place decades ago.

If you left it outside some crazy could smash your @@@@ all over your neighbourhood. Next door friends could be mad.
Take it to a recycler it's heavy but get some mustang help and be safe than be sorry.

If you are going to recycle it, take it to “The little grey workhorse” in Bolton. They collect used electronics and all the moneys they generate goes to local causes. (An older article but it tells you all about them)

Closing the loop - ended up selling it for $75 to a gamer from Cambridge - he came with a buddy and picked it up too.
