This is the best news I have heard in quite a few years. Mr. Poilievre, you will destroy the coward in charge right now. Why didn't you do this last election?

The last time I believed in a politician, we got Duhgie Ford....


*Edit* He says the right things, but this is still the CPC we're talking about. The same party who went with Andrew Scheer and Erin O`Toole. Sure they unceremoniously just dumped O`Toole, but does that mean they've learned their lesson?

There was a lot of motherhood and apple pie in that video and buzzword bingo but the question is whether they can execute when it comes to an election....that's where they've failed since Harper. I doubt they can accomplish most of the buzzy stuff he talked about (but most voters don't understand the reality of populist promises) but all they need to do is win first.

The things I'd like to see in our government:

1. Fiscal Responsibility and accountability - And bring in a law that will put some guardrails in place so a party can't spend their way to being elected, and once elected, have some sort of spending controls. Can you imagine what could be done with all that money that's going to pay interest on debt? I think of Health care and Education as two top benefactors. And at some point, our debt load is going to hurt Canada and Canadians when gov't is forced into austerity measures (like Greece) and further tax increases....a vicious cycle.

2. Less government, not more

3. Leadership - Do what's right for the country and it's future; make the hard decisions, not what's right for the party or some lobbyists << I know, a tall, if not impossible, given our government structure, i.e. think short term, get re-elected.

4. Electoral reform - In 5 out of the last 6 elections, the Conservatives have won the popular vote, i.e. more people voted for them. However, because of our system, more seats were won by the Liberals in a couple of provinces. I think the current system creates more division, rather then unity. Trudeau had promised this was on his priorities in 2015...sigh.

I'm happy to see Pierre throw his hat in the ring. If nothing else, I think he understands #1 and will attempt to get some control over what is currently out of control IMO.....IF the PC's can ever get back into power.

I think we need term limits too including for senators - so the job does not turn into a "how do I keep my job" by handing out cash thing (although term limits are not perfect either due to party politics).

Agree 100%. Let's also add the Governor General to the list as well. I'm still shaking my head on the benefits they receive at the taxpayers expense, even after they leave the position.

Classic line by Pierre and typical Trudeau who doesn't answer the question or try to defend the spending of $200 Million on a failed Casino. What a great way to spend taxpayers money. And they wonder why people are so turned off with politicians.

The PC`s had better come up with someone who has some credibility or we will be stuck with Skippy for a long time unless he gets bored and goes back to acting. Not sure that his female successor will be any better. I find her kind of phoney and less than impressive.

Pierre is a refreshing change from O'Toole, but he had little to say about mandates etc until it became expedient to hitch his wagon to protests.

He’s been far more vocal than anyone else in the party despite the political need to tow the line. Yes it’s Bs. That politics works that way but you work with what your have.

For years he has been speaking more as a leader than the actually leaders have been. Hopefully being stuck with Trudeau again is a lesson for the people who jumped to the pcp.

Split the vote. Lose the country.

don't get me wrong, I see him as an upgrade but not from economy to first class but more along the lines of from toilet black tank to cargo.

there has been another politician speaking out against the mandates from the beginning, but he's also an opportunist politician

I like Polievre but recognize he's a political opportunist, not a savior.

I would like to see the downfall of Trudeau but consider conservative voter disappointment at the most recent election. Had the PC's won, O'Toole would be in charge and very little would be different other than the figurehead.

I'd think someone who isn't interested but holds strong, consistent values like Peterson would be a better choice.
