Glad that was helpful. I tried quite a few for you and nothing came up or invalid VIN.

The parts department of a Ford dealer that sells / services medium trucks currently (F650-F750) may still have the microfiche cards around from when Ford did heavy trucks up to around 2000. A good old school heavy truck parts guy might be able to come up with the info you're after in those old fiche cards, but it is a PITA for them. When I was at Parkway we had a few guys who had been around from the heavy truck days, and they would cringe at requests like these ... but they have since retired anyway.

I'd question the accuracy of this page ... for fun I just tried the VIN from my 87 Mustang LX 5.0 (yes I'm a weirdo, I remember the full 17 digit VIN for a car I haven't owned in over 20 years), and it comes up as being a 2.3L four. Bought the car new off the lot, it was definitely a V8! I know for a fact that around that time, "E" was the 8th VIN digit for a 5.0L car and "A" was the 4 cylinder. It should be recognizing that check digit.

Tried my old Super Coupe VIN as well, it comes up with valid info though.

Ford C802. C800 series but the 2 denotes a 27500 gvwr. Ontario built truck with a 7.0L Gas engine which I believe is the "Lima" 429?

Also why do you want a Firetruck...

…why do you want a Firetruck...

Thanks that info seems to match what I have found.

Been eye balling for an older medium/ heavy duty non air brake truck. Something pre pre BS

Cheaper parts. Fire truck stuff comes off delivery box goes on

Not sure this is the one but price makes it worth looking at.

Talking to you as a guy who runs a fleet of trucks, the old super oddball gas truck isn’t gonna be the cost savings machine you think it will be when parts and downtime costs come in to play. If you want to stick with G-license class juice brake 5 ton stuff I’d look at the International 4900. Same model ran from late 80s to early 2000s. If you can find one with the DT466 thats been maintained and isnt rusted it’s a forever truck if you continue to treat them right. If you want newer I’m going to be selling a 2011 Durastar with hydraulic lift gate and 26’ box on it soon. 141k. Juice brakes and g license weight.

thanks for the input everyone.

not sure what the plan is but took a long look today. needs some work but it runs, guy was moving and had no place for it. had to be moved out by the end of next week or it was going to scrap.

$1250.00 (not a typo) later apparently now I own a fire truck.

429, 5 speed. its red. frame is spotless. 33,000 kms.

may just be a part for cash still has the tank and pumps, as well as all the stainless caps and handles.

will see. maybe just a parade rig.

fuck.... I'm an idiot.

A fire truck,damn,that's epic.

I was shopping at a local No Frills a few weeks ago and there was this old red International truck parked in the lot.
Not sure of the proper name for it but the type of truck that would carry rescue personnel and equipment.

It had the name of a home renovation company on the side doors.

^^^ most fire departments would call that type of rig a rescue, heavy rescue or a squad. Personnel and equipment but no water tank pump or hoses.

Kind of figured it was something like that.
I was with my father at the time and we were like wtf is this, wow?

We walked around it checking it out because it was such a rarity, something we have never seen in person up close.
It was in great shape.
That was a great day.
