Almost a decade ago I converted my fox over to Cobra brakes front & rear but never followed through on getting the correct size spare tire to go with it. At the time, the only one that would fit over the brakes was a 17" Cobra spare tire and folks wanted (and still want!) and arm + leg for it.
Is that still the best option, or are 17" spares more common now?

I've wondered if a simple solution would be to carry a spacer along with standard spare but haven't investigated.

Can use a S550 spare. Should bolt right on.

Thanks Zippy... only remaining question is whether an S550 (18"?) spare tire will fit in a Fox tire well
Got one here if you wanna slide by to test fit (not for sale at this time).
Been long time.

Do it for science, Andre.
I’m curious how it fits. Might be a solution for my car too.

I have a 17" S197 spare out of my old car hanging around too. It should clear as well, but the tire diameter might be a bit big as you're thinking.

You're more then welcome to come borrow mine for a minute to try it
If you go to my build thread, on page 2, scroll down a bit, i talk about mine. Even clears my brembo brakes. I imagine a 17inch would clear cobra caliper's no problem.

Well Don, I went over to see ZR and Zippy yesterday - the 18" spare drops right in to a Fox's spare tire well.

Thanks guys! Now I'll just have to find one of my own....

Looks made for it.
If you find a spare spare ….let me know ;)
Was able to make it work with a small spacer on the front. Looks pretty good for a spare too!
It fits perfectly in the rear where the spare goes.

No replies in your build thread, so I’ll post the question here:
What kind of spacer did you need? Thin enough that the stock studs work okay?

It was a really thin spacer. I'll measure it and let you know.
Lots of thread left on the nuts.

Don, you are welcome to borrow the 17" S197 spare I have around to test fit ... I'm thinking that it would likely clear your Cobra brakes, probably without a spacer. With the bulkier calipers that Ross has, the spacer was needed on the 18" wheel but I think your 2-piston clampers would clear.

Yeah for sure, cobra caliper's would not need any spacer.
