Want to finally install my lightning IAT sensor in my Vortech discharge tube. Am I able to just drill and 3/8 NPT tap the pipe or do I have to get a bung welded on to the thing? Its mild steel it appears.

If tube is thick enough to thread, for sure. If not, could either have a bung welded or seen couple peeps drill hole n use a grommet ((just push the threads in like non threaded version)).

I would weld a bung in place. But I like to do things the hard way and take 5X times longer. (see build thread)

My meth/water injection nozzles are just tapped into the tube. Just enure not to overtap the thread..

Vortech tube should be aluminum, and plenty thick, in which case you can easily drill and tap.....not sure what yours is though, if it’s steel it’s likely fairly thin. My Bullitt had an aluminum one.

Steel, and this is the IAT you sold me out of the Bullitt LOL

If it’s steel it won’t be thick at all, best to weld a bung to it....I’d guess even a “cold weld” or epoxy should work, I’m sure you’re running well under 10psi.
