I can’t tell from the pic, but isn’t that short piece supposed to stay in the block?

When I’ve removed my dipstick, it looks just like the piece on the right

?maybe mine is broken too?

So, I’m not sure. The piece on the left was in the block (I managed to pry it out) and the piece on the right clearly broke off of it. I was then able to put the long tube on the right into the block. So it will work for now just give a bad reading on the dipstick cause now it’s going in an extra 3/4”.

Lucky you got the lower section out, can sometimes require pulling the pan to tap out from below.

I actually saw a cool video of a guy who used a tap to very lightly thread the broken tube and was able to get it out. Removing the oil pan is unfortunately not an option in the space I work in. So I’m very lucky.

Used a screw to remove more than once.

Anyone use a flexible dipstick, like the brand Lokar?
https://lokar.com/engine-dipsticks.html

They're braided SS. Short though, doesn't stick out like the stock ones. Not a ton of info online, seems reviews are mixed between its the best thing ever because you can flex it around different headers, or it's the worst lol.
