Autobahn Race Series

Hey guys. I know we've got some racing fans in here so I wanted to share one of the race series I participate in on a simulation called Iracing.

This series will be every other Monday starting December 7th 2020(tomorrow) and ending sometime in July.
The series is a multiclass race road course racing series.
First race is at Daytona and we will have 60+ cars on the track. Roughly 20 for each class. It is going to be NUTS!
It involves the following cars
Dallara P217 (LMP2)
GTLM cars - C8.R , Porsche RSR, BMW M8
GTD Cars - Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi
Races are 60 & 90minutes long Monday's @ 9pm EST
I'll be racing on a team called Satellite Racing Team.

I've found out that I'm pretty good with the Legends cars at USA Speedway with 3 front row starts. Though two of those ended up in me getting taken out on the first lap, and the most resent was a near miss. However, I was able to come back to a second place finish.

As for road racing, I did some testing at Lime Rock with an MX5... It didn't go well. lol

Highly recommend watching this for anyone that missed the race. I timestamped the last 15mins of the race.
I had a HUGE comeback in this race. Qualified 3rd, got up to 2nd by corner 2 lap 1... by corner 3 I was last (16th). Got spun.
Drove my butt off to get back up to these guys. Here's the battle for 2nd, 3rd & 4th.

Great battle the whole 90mins between the top 3 in my class.
Need to find a smidge more speed in the setup.

Three seconds in a row now.
Messed up my pit strategy and had to come down for a splash at the end. Was lucky to still get 2nd with having to do an extra stop.
Ran nose to tail the entire race with the leader...

For me, I'd say the inverse is more true. Then again, I suck at iRacing. I have like 3 poles all on ovals, but usually end up wrecked.

Round 6 tonight at Road America did not go well for me.
Qual'd 2nd. Was running 3rd with about 35mins to go. Got turned into the wall then TBoned. Was passing the slower class GT3 and he came down and turned me. Not really upset or disappointed. This is truly what multiclass racing is about... sometimes you get through clean... sometimes things like this happens.

Had a self spin that put me back at the start of the race and battled back to P2.
-7 points in the championship now. Points leader had a mega race scoring Pole, Fastest lap & zero incident points for a big points haul.

Mosport race came and went. Ended up coming home second after starting 4th.

This past Monday, I raced for the first time at Hockenheim.
Brand new track to iracing.
Had my worst Qual of the season, started 6th.
Was running in the podium all race till after the pitstop where I short fueled and took the lead
Ended up losing the lead to Young Park with 5laps to go.
On the last lap, Park ended up taking too much curb and spun infront of me giving me the win! What a gift!

If you hit a wall hard enough, or hit another car hard enough, it simulates the damage.
So you can pit and have it fixed.
For example, if the motor blows up, it'll be an hour + long required repaired time.
Or if you hit it hard enough, the sim says "you're done"
In these sprint races (under 2hrs) you usually are pretty much done if you get any sort of damage.
No cautions in our races so no way in hell to ever catch up.

Well... Bathurst was a utter mess for me last week. I should have won the race but ended up with big damage in the nose of my car. Came across two cars across the track on a blind corner... no where to go.
I am now 2 points behind the points leader going into the final race next Monday.
It's going to be a dogfight at Road Atlanta.
Good thing I'm pretty solid there!

CHAMPIONSHIP DAY TOMORROW!
After me having a not so hot last race, I find myself -2 in the drivers championship.
Pole awards 1 point
Zero Incident race = 1 point (meaning no car contact with anyone or running off course anywhere)
Fastest Lap = 1 Point
First Place = 20 points
Second Place = 18Points
Basically... I need to try and get as many points as possible...
If my opponent finishes 2nd and I finish 1st, we would essentially tie and I would win based off of my average finish.
However, if he get's any bonus points, and I don't get any, he still wins.
It's going to be a good one tomorrow...

Round 14 was last night at Road Atlanta. 90minutes on a high intensity racetrack for little room for mistake.
Had a field of 37 drivers.
Came into the race -2 in the drivers championship and +32 in the team Championship.
Qual'd on Pole and had an amazing race the whole way through. Was nose to tail with Stefan that started second. I beat him in the pits on the final pitstop and secured the win and the championship to boot.
This is my 9th season with this league and the first time I've ever been even close to be thinking about being in the championship hunt.
When I started iracing, this was the first league... and I wasn't very good.
My first race way back when, I looped it before the green flag even flew... 9seasons later I'm able to contend for wins and bring home the gold.
Anyways, thanks for watching/reading/supporting.
New season will probably kick off in Sept/Oct to do it all again.
