I have a lot of time....until spring but I am looking for a recommendation for someone to remove my vinyl stripes off my 2015 and paint them back on? Any ideas please chime in!!

Curious as to why you would want to do that?

At least with vinyl it gives you the flexibility to change things up if you get tired of the look. Also when you decide to sell it doesn’t limit your ability to appeal to more buyers (who may or may not like stripes).

Ya, even on the new GT500, I wouldn’t want that, even tho it’s a factory option (an expensive one).

However, if this is your decision, might want to check out Clearshot Customs in Brantford. Boot Hill Auto in Erin May also be a shop to consider.

after 5 years the vinyl stripes are fading away and actually wearing out...where you can see the paint underneath.

Yikes, figured they would stand up much longer.

A heat gun, hair dryer, steamer could take it off. Time consuming if it tears apart. Best thing I’ve used was a vinyl eraser wheel. Attach to a drill and everything comes off except paint. Even takes off adhesive.

If your dead set on painting because you like the colour of the stripe then go ahead. Underneath the vinyl your paint will be darker than the rest of the car that didn’t have vinyl. My dad took pinstripes off his car that was in there for a couple years, I can still see the stripe where it used to be.

Garden hose with hot water flowing over large areas works extremely well on large areas of vinyl, typically will take the adhesive with it cleanly. The rubber eraser wheels work well but large stripes would be a royal pain and tedious.

Really? Do you winter drive it?

My stripes have been on for 4 years or so but they car is garaged when not being driven.

Do you know what product they used? Like the name brand?

Hmmm. I wonder what brand of vinyl they used. Mine are 3M and holding up really well. The hood was redone but only because I got a new hood two years back.
