column length

Does anyone know if Ford changed the steering column length or shaft length between 79 and later years?

Just trying to figure something out.

Not sure but might be worth looking at aftermarket stock replacements to see if they are the same from A to Z.

So, I ended up pulling the column out of the car and comparing it in length to a few different stock length ones - the 79 column IS shorter by about 5 inches.

So guess who's rebuilding a steering column so it all fits...
