LAst July I ended more than 20 years of Mustang ownership(well. we still have the '89 coupe but it's been sitting in the barn for 5 years) and bought my Jaguar F-type convertible.
I've now had it for 14 months, and, even though it was parked for 5 months, I've done 25,000 km on it. The previous owner did 15,000 in 4 years.
It's been a real joy to drive, and admittedly it's given me an occasional feeling of superiority when I look at BMW's, Audi's and even Maserati's.
Yesterday, though, reality bit.

I'd been having a recurring flat in my right rear tire, having to fill it every couple of weeks. The last two days, though, I've had to fill it 3 times. I went down to my local tire dealer, who showed me that the cords were showing on both rear tires, and both fronts were excessively worn on the inside(I'd had an alignment done recently but I guess it was too late). I'm on several Jaguar F-type forum and apparently 40,000 km is about it for factory standard tires. It's exacerbated by the fact that the car is all-wheel drive. To replace all 4 tires (Pirelli's, size 295/30/20 rear, 255/35/20 front) was going to be OVER $3000. The various Jaguar forums suggested Michelin Sport Cup 2's but they were even more and likley wouldn't last 20,000 km.

I wound up going to AIM on Dennison in MArkham(My go to store for 25 years)where I got a new set of Continental Conti-force Contacts for $2000.00 all up.

I guess if you want to pretend to be rich you have to pay the price.

I'll keep enjoying my 17 / 18" tires at just over a grand all in. Did score new take off set of tires for the Ram at $500.

Heavy powerful car with AWD is going to use up performance tires for sure. 40,000 km of usage is pretty decent life. Not sure why forum posters would be suggesting Michelin Cup 2 tires unless they're doing track days. Would probably get 10,000 km or less out of those. The Continentals should be fine, if you still have the car next time it needs new skins look at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as well.

Yes, they were also recommended. However, I needed tires yesterday and the Michelins weren't available until next week. Not to mention almost choking on the price.

That’s not just a Jaguar. Putting new decent rubber on any modern sports car will cost a pretty penny.

Had a customer lease a mid 2000s Bently with a supercharger. Went to return it in and the dealership said it needed rims&tires.
He had rash on most of the wheels and the tires were cooked. He was quoted $10,000 to have the wheels refinished and have the tires replaced.
The tires were extremely expensive because they were a spec tire. They had a dash "B" for Bently on them.

Fancy car must have fancy tires.
