Hello Guys. I'm new to the forum and new to everything Mustang! This is my also my first post! Long story short, I have always been into imports Lexus, Nissan, Honda etc. However I have always secretly admired the Ford Mustang and especially the new edge SN95. The other day I was bored at work and was browsing Kijiji. Saw a 2003 GT for sale, met with the guy and bought it! It was an impulsive buy. The car is a 2003 GT Convertable with 158km I got it for 6k. Problem is it had never had any servicing done other than oil change and new tires. I bought it from the first owner who seemed to be an ok guy but said "I never did anything as it never needed anything". Brought it my mechanic for safety and he said it didnt need anything for safety. The car drives very good and everything works as it should. However, I worry that nothing has ever been done to the car all original besides hopefully a few oil changes in that time period. My question is, is there a Mustang specialist shop around GTA that I can bring the car to to get inspected and serviced if needed? Can someone of you who is familiar with the new edge tell me what to look for and just give me some thoughts on how to proceed from here in regards to maintanance? I'm basically trying to decide if I shold keep the car or sell it. I love it and would like to keep it, but also want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Thatnk you so much in advance!!

Congrats on your purchase.
Mustang needs maint beyond oil changes just like any other vehicle. That means, fluids like brakes, trans and diff, coolant and power steering to if it looks poochy. Also things like shocks n belts n hoses plus tune up parts etc wear out along the way as well.

Agreed, been going to ZR and Zippy for ever and always pleased. As for your 03 GT, congratulations on your purchase. I had a new edge coupe for 11 years, I think you will enjoy it.

Based on the information provided I would strongly suggest replacing all fluids, belts, check hoses, suspension wear items, etc. as mentioned by ZR himself. Another area to look at would be the tensioners on those 4.6 motors. Unless a heavier oil like a 10w30 was run it in then they too may need to be replaced.

If you make an appointment with dr. ZR, he will brief you on the usual suspects and required attention areas.

Hello ZR and thank you for your comment. I know how important maintanance is. I have 3 other vehicles in the family which I have maintained following the service manual and never had any issues. Well, with an exception of 1997 Ford Escort which engine blew up for no reason while idling at a parking lot. Some members recommended you are the right person to have a look at the car? Please advise if that could be done. I will appriciate it.

I bought a used high mileage TSX a while back. Changed all the fluids. Good thing I did because the brake fluid was like sludge.

Acura TSX will go forever! I did work for Acura for 5 years as a service advisor and we were seeing TSX with 400-500k on a daily basis with little to no service needed.

I hear ya, if we’ll maintained.

My 2006 Civic Si that I sold to buy my stang, hit over 240k. I was the original owner. Everything on that motor is original except for maintenance stuff. The starter and AC are the original ones.

A couple years ago I had a problem with the AC, after a few minutes it would blow warm air. Took it to a shop, they said I need a new AC unit. So I did my own research. Turns out there are shims (basically thin washers) that expand over time causing the clutch plate not to attract to the magnet when the AC was engaged. Found the Honda part number for the shims, $5. The shims were stupid thin, like less than 1mm. So I took the clutch plate off, replaced the shims with thinner ones and worked perfectly fine after that. So for $5 I fixed my AC.
