Makes me wonder though.. Do these guys asking $15k for a fox really get anything close to that? They aren't THAT old/rare yet... Are they?

Whats the stigma with Quebec cars. There are some extremely nice cars from Quebec. I guess living this close to Quebec makes it not worrisome at all for me.

He says that he put the price up to 19k to stop all the questions about why it is so cheap. the price is still 16k for those who noticed. The lemon buyback on the carproof was for the head tick apparently. Head was replaced. It is a US car.
Still cheap if it's a beater.

I dunno i been told and heard bad things that is all.. but i guess would be different if you leave near there..
isnt there some special thing i have to do to bring a quebec car back? temp plates from quebec then safety etest in Ontario and register to MTO right..
So there was a buyback on it?
Just like buying from anywhere else, check it out from stem to stern n you'll be fine.
BAB CObra
10-04-2016, 08:56 AM
Well a buy back would not be head tick. that was a tsb and a repair..
So what why it sent back, happens all the time as does accident damage. So long as it's properly repaired, drive on and enjoy the extra change in your pocket.

Stay Alert for killer deals next week Black Fri (actually starting on Thurs and all day Fri) on Mustang specialty websites like American Muscle, LMR, Maximum Motorsports (their weekend deals) and others.
Have your list and usual prices ready and you may be pleasantly surprised, even with the dollar. Just don't expect to save lots if you have it shipped directly here thru a broker wth UPS or Fedex. Using USPS (US Postal Service) can work, sometimes they collect $5 and maybe GST but not always. ;)

That Vert has been for sale for a looong time, it keeps resurfacing to the top over and over again. He has not dropped a nickle on the price. I found , after owning several, the verts and carbed cars are a bit harder to sell. Too bad could be a nice car with a little work.

OEM Shelby Stripes from Ford are $2500, just for the Stripes, not including install.

That sounds a little high but not complete unreasonable for a quality job. It's around 300 dollars for high quality vinyl that won't sun fade or degrade, plus its a huge amount of labour to layout, properly centering and trimming around edges/body parts.

I have the Crutchfield one but haven't used it yet. I too would prefer to keep the storage tray for my sunglasses.
I'm going to play with modding one of my extra consoles to see if I can adapt the existing tray to the new radio. Issue is it that old tray was attached to the original radio.

Worth only parts.
Only worth what someone is willing to pay. With the high cost to rebuild a 4v, someone better think long n hard before slapping the cha ching down.

I like the title...he wants you to read...and do math
Depending on any damage beyond what rebuild would cover, start closer to 5k plus in and out n small parts. Cool part, his to ask whatever he wants regardless of what others think. Similar to conversation I had with someone last year on 03/04 Cobra value. The party felt no one in their right mind would pay over 20k max for a minty fresh one when in reality your closer to high mileage territory for that kinda money. Still going back n forth if I'm down for a new GT or keeping mine but pricing will be closer to double that number.

Salvage title is a value killer, couple that with suspect history and inability to test drive leaves me feeling that car is about overpriced by 4-5000 considering thats maybe a 8-9k car when finished. No value there at ask.
Harbinger

Its worth 6k tops if the car has been repaired right and clean rust wize. Salvage + knocking = loss in value

No that would be a deal breaker, love the New Edge interior. Entire New Edge car is a perfect combination of the no borders hooker you'd spend the weekend locked in a room with n the librarian you'd take home to meet yer mom.

Couldn't agree more about the New Edge interior ZR. Honestly back in 06-07 when I was ditching my F-Body for a New Edge everyone though I was crazy for using the interior as a major rationale. Couldn't stand the driving position, control layout and overall look and feel of my F-Body, got in one New Edge and was like "shit, I'm sold". Even to this day I get in the interior of that car and it just feels "right", tight enough for a driver centric no waste feel and large enough to spend long hours in without becoming claustrophobic.
To this day despite all the god forsaken headaches this car has/is causing me every time I get in that interior I go "oh ya" which is something very few other cars have been able to do.
Could not agree more, have even done some decent long trips in both my former '00GT and the Cobra. No doubt the Recaro's help huge but the interior itself is an absolute win in my eyes. I also enjoy pulling into a meet n having a ride that is not like the bulk of whats there.

I think people are sleeping on New Edge values (for a good non salvage car). These in my eyes were the last Mustang before they had to get way big due to crash/safety standards. Not diminishing the S197 and beyond, those cars were quantum leaps forward in terms of factory ride quality, space, convenience, and with the 5.0 huuuuuuge jumps in power, but lost some simplicity.
Yes, except for 03/04 Cobras, overlooked and undervalued, hell of a bargain for those buying though. It is however impossible to overlook just how good the '05 up chassis is though.

Agreed. Cobras being not shy of more expensive to maintain I would rather find an unmolested one...but If I had the extra dough i would jump it. Not likely though. Nothing like a cobra eaton swap and Ive got a proper mach 1 :)

Once all the small stuff is priced out, most go another direction. Even used T56's are expensive n very hard to find.
In Canuck bucks (or close to it), would be a bargain.

I saw the car again last week parked in a driveway at the top of McDougal at Wellington . I hadn't see it since it was for sale on Queen near Lake 5 or 6 yrs ago . The story i heard at the time was the car was owned by a school principal who had brought it to town from California (guess it was BC) , it supposedly had been built years before as a show car . Don't know if it ever sold but he was asking big bucks for it at the time . It appears the present seller is the son .

The offset is a bit low for an S197, so unless you like the "stance" look all the time I'd say no. For track wheels they'd be fine. Typically the offset for a 9"+ wheel on an S197 is at least +35, or higher.

Brenspeed down in the U.S. purchased a 2011 GT Mustang with a Coyote motor which had 160,000 miles on it, they opened up the front of the motor and it looked brand new and they went on to mod the crap out of it keeping it N/A. That car is still being beat on and running strong, these Coyote motors are an amazing invention and soon all the Canadian Mustang enthusiast will realize it.

Agreed, interior is gross. Also supercharger sounds terrible but that may be because of the microphone used.

The odometer read out looked pretty wonky....not sure what's up with that? Like the color, but like ZR, not a big fan of the interior red accents.
Have to wonder why he's selling given all the investment made in the car.

You look like you have a ton of great mods , how different of a ride are the new ones compared to the s197 ?

Honestly I don’t know.
People say there is no comparison or it’s just on the next level( "leaps and bounds" lol )
I have been avoiding taking a test drive because I don’t want to go further in debt just to have a newer vehicle. Everyone says the s197 is “ ancient tech”
- I did take a ride along track day in the gt350 - 2 sessions out. Made my car feel like I was driving a Toyota camry out there mind you my tires were shot and my konis were in full soft
-I’m in the process of deciding to trade for 18 performance pack 2 or keep the 14 -before putting any more money for further mods ( big brake kit/ boost)

My buddy will be listing this shortly, ‘85 GT 5.0 5spd, running a late-‘80s roller engine with an edelbrock intake and 650cfm carb, has 8.8 rear and 10.5” clutch, lowering springs with new 17’ pony r chrome wheels 8”f, 10”r with new nitro tires, new stereo system as well, top has a couple tears and it’s not a show car but overall it’s a great driver. He’s gonna list it for probably $9k, but I’m sure it could be had for $7k with a safety.
