Thinking about getting a home surveillance system. Costco seems to have good prices on Lorex and Swann systems.

Anyone have a system? Comments would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting to learn about this stuff. I see it all the time at Costco as well.

I have a couple of Nest Cameras. They work well and the footage is stored in the cloud.

I have a Lorex camera. Really pleased with it. App is reliable and easy to use. The live stream is off by about 2 seconds. Image quality is great and you can nest up to 9 cameras.

I have a Q-See 8-cam 1080P system that I purchased from Costco just over 5 years. Picture quality is great, for the most part the system has been fairly reliable, other than a hard drive failure.

Last year I installed a Lorex 8-cam 1080P system at my parent's house. Picture quality is fantastic, the app works great. I purchased the system directly from Lorex Canada https://www.lorextechnology.com/?_requestid=1810741 They offer way more product choices, better pricing than Costco and also offer a 2 year warranty. Usually they have promo deals on their site for additional discounts.

Additional info,
-Go with a wired system (be it analog BNC cable or IP cable) for security and reliability.
-Get a system with more cameras, you will find areas to use them. I made this mistake with the first 4-cam system I purchased. Sold it a year later and went with an 8-cam system to cover all angles around the house and in the garage as well.
-Look for a system with 2TB + hard drive storage.
-Stick with a 2K 1080P system, picture quality is excellent. While 4K is nice, it's absolutely not needed and it eats up a ton of data.

Wired (Cat5/Cat5E) with a POE switch to a NAS, expandable with no need to have outlets at every camera...

I thought all their products/software comes from China? They had a fair bit of product issues in the past but not sure if resolved now but I guess you'll be dealing with Costco anyway.

Isn't everything made in China these days, lol. It started as canadian, but like you said was sold many times. Tried to find a north american made system but could not.

I have EZVIZ (4 cameras that also have 2 way communication and panning features) that i've had for 4 yrs. footage also stores in the cloud. Only complaint is the app sometimes has a lag when opening it..but otherwise it's clear and easy to use. I just recently added Ring doorbell , Ring spotlight with camera and 2 wireless cameras. image on these are very clear. No complaints. I think my house is pretty much covered. probably overkill, but gives me good peace of mind.
