Is it worth repairing?

KitchenAid KFIS25XVMS1, not sure how old it is, by the looks of it - probably 20 years old? Previous owners were pigs and I tried to clean it as best I could but bits n pieces are still broken inside.

Leaking water dispenser, leaks at the nozzle. A new fridge is what, 1700 bucks?

Don't we have an appliance specialist here? I won't even attempt at fixing this, I will stop at fixing cars.

Lol. I know that’s a weird question. But The water dispenser works off of a valve “upstream” of the tip and relies on air pressure to hold the water in the tube.

Think of your finger over the end of the straw

Becasie of this changes in air pressure (door opening. HVAC running). Most manufactures have an “allowable leak rate” which usually equals a few drops per hour.

If it’s more than that go threw and make sure all connections are tight. If that dosnt
Stop it. You be looking at a valve


The shelf parts are difficult because sometimes all the little tabs are sold separate so. It very expensive but can add up in a hurry

Go to reliableparts.ca you should be able to put in your model number and it will give you a parts blow up so you can go threw and match up everything you need

Thanks for the info... I wonder how much it would cost for a pro to fix the leak?

Depending on the place. Service Calls are usually 70-100. Plus what ever part is needed.
If it needs a valve. Would be couple hundred bucks pretty quick.

Cheaper than water damaged floors and cabinets.

All I can say is.. don’t buy a lg/Samsung fridge
