Just read that Manley Performance has been bought by RWB (Race Winning Brands) who have been buying up others recently like JE, Wiseco, Diamond, Dart, Manley, CV4, MGP Rods, Falicon, Rekluse, K1, Trend, ProX Racing....and probably a few others.

On a similar note, the holding company that owns Edelbrock recently made a deal for Comp Cams.

The after market has to be a tough market, given that with a computer and software, most vehicles from the factory today can be enhanced performance wise.

Plus changing demographics and preferences, ride sharing, on-demand everything, etc. These private equity finance teams are buying everything (they own RWB, Edelbrock, etc). Will be interesting to see how they flip companies like these.

The car hobby will be dead and gone in 10 years. If that.

Isn't that what was said when EFI started in mass production on performance cars in the 80s?

What RWB will do is can all the old timers and whoever makes too much money. Curb a lot of future projects, new products etc and discontinue any product that is a slow seller. Thats just to start.
Same story with Edelbrock and the holding company that owns them now. Its all about profits $$$.

The writing is on the wall for sure, at least for gas engines. With the "climate change" embedded into people's minds, new demographics who aren't into the hobby or care to tolerate it and the same people electing governments who will end the hobby through legislation and cost of fuel.
On the flip side we can learn to mod electric cars just like the RC hobby lol.
On same page as Ed on this one.
Is however a shame to see innovating co's like that being sold, no doubt watering down whats to come from them.

I think thia is all a short term gamble but in the end they will lose. If any of us owned one of these companies you would be a fool not to sell if your price was met.
