I retract my post. I'm not like that, and am embarrassed that I would say something of that nature for a laugh. I apologize to anyone that was offended. I am beating myself up over this.
Sincerely,

I think this version is made from something other than aluminum - at least that's what Dougie was saying when the idea was first dreamed up, in a bar no doubt, right after a buck a beer, and maybe on a napkin, shortly after happy hour...lol damn there's the Don Cherry Canadian thing again...I'm such a hosser (I'm sure there are other adjectives one may inject here) but that's another story! "open for business" yah! that was another buck a beer dream! Be cool now if one could go online and design and order their own plate around the layout parameters and maybe put their own personal touch or logo on it!!

Complaints rolling in that the new plates are un-readable at night due to glare at certain angles from headlights, city lights, well all light really LOL. And people that don't care about reading them are just complaining about the glare in general
Is is just me... or is this something that should be tested before releasing to the public?

The incompetence involved with this kind of shiat blows my mind. To think no one thought to check the proto type under low light before moving forward with them. Add to that the butt ugly look, well done.
TORONTO -- The Ontario government has confirmed to CTV News Toronto that they are looking into reports that the province's new licence plates are difficult to read at night.

Blowing smoke cuz I don’t know at all but is it possible they are coloured in a way to stand out better on specific low light cameras? Like IR?
Just wondering because isn’t most plate monitoring automatic now. Done by the cameras and computer In The police cars?
Or is this a different tech that isn’t full coverage now?

I'll be sticking with the white plate/blue alphanumeric for the Shelby.....since it's a white car...with blue stripes. If I switch to the blue with white alphanumeric, it will stick out to much me thinks.
Looks great on the Kona Blue GT though....

The new plates are made up of a thin piece of metal, a decal and 4 holes. They bend very easy because they aren't as thick and there is no embossing.
My guess is they will scrap the front plate because they will all get wrecked and maybe fix the lettering on the back plate but we're getting mixed reviews on being able to read the new plates at night.

So according to a news report I saw yesterday, they re-hired 3M to make the new plates, despite them being the same ones to build the de-laminating ones we've all come to love (NOT!). Maybe the gov't doesn't have too many sources to provide these plates?
Oh, and the other nice tidbit....Gov't scrapped 16,000 of the white plates they still had in stock when the new ones came in. Smart, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaal smart. Why wouldn't you issue them till there gone then start with the new plates!?!?

But how’s that different to anything else? It’s always done on tender. How many times has a road crew screwed up and then be rehired to fix it. Dosnt make it right and as I said the company should be on the hook. I’m just so tired of The Blaim ford for everything bullshit. Where were the people blaiminf the last government for the peeling plates? IMO that’s worse. They made the the same for decades couldn’t for a peeling issue?
This is a new design someone fucked up.

He made a great big deal about the plates when he announced them, and slapped the PC colours and slogan on them. At that point he OWNED them. Now that the plates are defective, well he OWNS that too.
Had the peeling plates been red with the slogan “choose change” or something stupid, the reaction would have been the same.

That depends on the contract and who was smarter in negotiating terms of contract - the government team or contract team. In the case of the 407 sale, the SNC Lavalin negotiating team was clearly the smarter of the two parties based on the outcomes we've seen.

Depends on what/if (any) specs are in the contract in terms of material, dimensions/thickness, stress testing, minimum visibility thresholds, etc - most of this is testable and measurable so if it's included in the paperwork then the government has financial damages recourse but if not then......

"Legislators quickly backed away when police warned that the move would hamper enforcement efforts. One concern: fewer targets for the automated licence-plate readers fitted to many police cruisers to spot wanted vehicles and suspended drivers. "
And yet most provinces in our country don't require front plates required.

If they changed the colour of the letters/numbers to match the colour of the trim the problem would be solved.
