Here's this weekend's line up. Music is between 4 - 7p ish except Sunday 3 - 5:30p ish. *Note - all very weather dependent. However, we do have a Mist Machine on site to cool us all down.

New Experimental Beer on Tap:

BLACK WHEAT (4.5% abv / 15 ibu / golding hops) A black wheat beer. Easy drinking, surprisingly smooth. Black as midnight, but without any of the characteristic black malt bitterness. Surprisingly close in flavour to our Golden Ale. Unexpected light for a dark beer.

The Sheep Lambs have arrived! Come on by to say hello to our newest family members. They will be out in the yard working our hops, wedding and pruning for us.

IMO, they get even better the further north you go. My favorite ales were all in Scotland. (prior to discovering IPAs, my go to was caramel-malt ales)

saw this and grabbed one sounded worth a try. fresh raspberry's wheat pilsner and weisen yeast.


I very much enjoy by buddies cyserweisen which is a wheat beer, with usually fresh apples and or local raspberry's. my buddies at Bad Apple Brewing is very light with just a hint of berry.


this raspberry sour beer is very berry forward tastes almost like berry's fresh off the vine with that slight bite of bitter which really balances the sour beer finish

will see how it develops

We had a couple quarts of raspberry gose from Prince Eddy Brewery. Interesting, but not my thing. Definitely could not drink more than a small glass at a time.

It's not a fruit-based beer - the colour is deceiving. Here is the description:

The same malt bill used in our Amber Hop X, but this time we brewed it solely with organic Centennial hops grown on the Bighead Hop yard in Meaford. Deep Amber in colour, aromas of citrus and pine. Flavourful enough for the fans of an IPA but smooth enough for those just beginning their craft beer journey.

I drink mostly Lagers, Ales then you guys got me switched over to IPA.
Then when I drink lagers they were just lacking, this one fits the bill for me - pleasantly surprised.

Had this tonight. If you have the opportunity to try it, don’t! It tasted like they added icing sugar or some shit to it. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Weekend brews - all very tasty. I preferred Provocative IPA over Cashmere Galaxy IPA.

Provocative IPA: features a blend of Galaxy, Citra and Amarillo hops for a peach, passionfruit, and grapefruit forward beer with residual pine and citrus character.
Cashmere Galaxy IPA: An IPA with Cashmere and Galaxy hops. We taste notes of peach, melon, tropical fruit. Drinks as soft as the fiber itself.

The GLB NEPA is very good as well.

Highway 10 & King Rd area (5 mins west on Chingcousy Rd). This was one of the places I mentioned on Saturday - I went down Highway 10 and stopped in after I left Blackstock.

Working in Sudbury this week and picked up some Stack Brewing company beer. Not nearly as a destination brewer as Cowbell. Awesome pictures.
Session IPA is very tasty, Valley girl a bit weak for a Wheat ale.
Surprised at how many restaurants don't sell local craft beer. The Taphouse which I assumed would have some local offerings, their closest brewer is on Manitoulin.
The others I will try later, too many emails to answer right now

It was good - tasted like a more traditional ale. A little toned down compared to the recent brews I've had. Picked up 3 from this brewery (they had them at Junction Craft).

I used to like Mill Street Organic also. My SIL drinks it exclusively. So we had some in the fridge at the cottage when she visited. There were a few left, so I had one, and I was almost revolted. I didn't remember it tasting like that.

The Quebec microbrew isn't actually a porter or stout - just a darker ale that drinks light. Here is their description:
It is the addition of three caramel malts in the brewing which gives this beer all its roundness. A beautiful woody and vanilla finish.

This one surprised me - did not include it in the tasting I did at the brewery but tried it today and it was actually very good. Will have to get some more (tasting description: Barley wine salty and robust, brewed with smoked malt at the Fumoir d'Antan. Maple Note, Herring Smoked Malt, Saline and Iodine. * May contain traces of smoked herring!).
Paired it with the best lobster roll (and poutine) I've had in the past 10 days. I ended up going back to get their seafood chowder (lobster and scallops) for dinner which was paired with a white IPA which was ok.

Yes, on a farm at King Rd and Chinguacousy Rd (couple minutes west of Highway 10). They're too small right now to sell into LCBO or Beer Store....only open to public for tasting/retail sale from 12-5 on Saturdays.


I wouldn't say "ultimate" day trip though....

I stopped at a car show in Bolton so didn't get to Badlands until later so didn't head to Goodlot afterwards. Only picked up Mantra and Dora (enjoyed one of these onsite also) brews because they had already sold out of the other two.

Was out for a bike ride up to Belfountain area about a month ago and we passed by Badlands on the way back, had never heard of it before. We sampled a couple before riding home and thoroughly enjoyed.

Yes, they have a nice spot to stop in with the farm. Back in August I chatted with a couple people there who drove up from Guelph as they were planning a long group cycling route and was checking out Badlands to put them on the route.

Goodlot Brewing is also popular with cyclists as I've talked to several who stopped in while on a bike ride in the rolling hills (both have great beer although I think Badlands beer is more interesting while Goodlot is more "traditional").

But came home with Octopus, Surround Sound, and Hazy State.

Velociraptor Double IPA, at 8.0% packs a punch great flavour .
Frequency is American Pale Ale, with some fruit flavors. The staff were very knowledgeable, IPA is their specialty, and they just hit their 5 th anniversary.
