thanks!
No cannot get those at the Airport, at least not the 79 for sure.
Matt, wont be cracking open the 79 but for sure the other one. Have a 1970 Highland Park (bottled by Gordon & MacPhail) that is already open. Happy to give you a taste- it is pretty unique.
I'd would've already cracked that '79 LOL! Wouldn't have been able to wait.
Why are you saving? Whiskey is done aging once in the bottle.
You saving for a really special occasion?

I've got a few bottles tucked away for special occasions. not sure what they are yet. daughter's wedding? son's first kid? some late night call from the cops? there will come a day when a really nice bottle will be necessary.

Haha I did that when I first joined the army. Whatever "Z" pop flavour Zellers had on sale was the mix for the night. Lime pop and Bacardi was always a hit

OMG I think I would die of laughter!
If you had a party, and switched everybody's beer to that without them knowing!? LOL!
alas, science:
1. Helium is about 700 times less soluble in water as compared to carbon dioxide. It is one of the least soluble gases in water and only about 0.0016 g of Helium would get dissolved in a litre of beer. While, at the same conditions, 2.5 g of carbon dioxide is usually present in a litre of beer. This dissolved carbon dioxide is what realeases slowly and creates the fizz. No slow fizz can be done with Helium. Undissolved helium in beer would coalesce into one or two big bubble and…ploop, would go out as soon as the seal would break.
2. Even if Helium was forced into the beer and sealed in a beer can, it would be useless. As soon as the seal would break, all the meaningful amount of helium present inside, undissolved, under pressure, would come out so quickly (due to less viscous beer) that it would bring out a lot of beer with it. It would create a mess. And you wouldn’t be able to even bring the can near your face by the time the whole gas goes away.
Had carbon dioxide been used for the same purpose, the gas would, like it normally does, come out steadily. It would make the bubbles last.

That's what we did. I got their Vodka also but have not tried it yet. Their gin is amazing and I'm not a gin drinker usually. When I was there I got a tour of the still and they were doing a trial run of absinthe.

I figured out that I'm not overly enthusiastic about hoppy beer after sampling many of the craft brews released this year so I've been steering clear of IPAs over the past 3 weeks. The Copper Ale is very smooth but not as "tasty" as I would have thought given the toasted malt used but still a decent beer. It appears to be the mildest tasting of their line-up so if you like the hoppier stuff then this might disappoint.

My niece just came back from BC and brought me these 2 craft beers. The large bottle is brewed in Tofino, the smaller in Vancouver.
Tried the Stanley park beer, very smooth, but haven't got around to the big Blonde yet.

Received the Forty Creek Three Grain Harmony release info email today. September 26-27 John Hall will be signing bottles during a Whisky Weekend Event. Forty Creek is hosting Whisky & Chocolate pairing seminars on that same weekend which requires tickets to be purchased in advance online. Im thinking of going Sunday the 27 if others want to meet up.
Cheers.
I'm planning to go so could meet up.

I went out and picked up a couple more three grain harmony the other night. The 40 creek distillery released the unclaimed reserved bottles to the public and shipped out remaining inventory to the LCBO stores The 40 creek store at the distillery is sold out at this time. Apparently if LCBO stores reject cases they will be returned and back up for sale. I found these two at a local LCBO. It won't be long until the inventory of the 9,000 limited release bottles are sold out.

I went to a scotch nosing last week. Aside from some trying some amazing whiskys, notably a Cragganmore Dewar (single cask I think? can't remember as it was discontinued and probably never available in Ontario), the host insisted we add two drops of water to our glasses. WOW - The flavour really comes through. Try it with a real scotch. You'll be amazed.

In Nova Scotia it is called the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission (NSLC). I used their website to locate the stores with stock and found someone to put some in the mail. LCBO cannot ship store to store from out of province and the distillery couldn't help either.
And FYI for anyone interested ... the LCBO in Oak Ridges on Yong has about a dozen or so of the new Forty Creek Harmony so get it while you can.

it is a great little secret - prob fairly well known to us scotch lovers - couple drops really opens up the malt. Especially slightly rougher ones. I always order a side of water , for that and other reasons :)

I'm not really into trying new beers and it seems a lot of new mircos are flooding the market. So how does one sift through the clever/punny names and cartoon labels and distinguish a legit good craft beer from the "oh me too" wanna-be's that are crowding the shelves?? Like the one above from Creemore. Creemore is a pretty big brewery with the backing of Molson and it makes some really good beers. What it is doing trying to disguise itself as a small basement craft brewer with the cheesy Ed Hardy sell-out can designs? Someone help me understand this mess ...

Sometimes you just have to try them. A lot of time when we go out, I'll try the crafts on tap and then buy them in the cans. I tend to like the hoppy IPAs and APAs so I usually stick with those. I guess I just get tired of drinking the same old huge brewery stuff. Although I'm sure I'll be into that stuff tonight, along with a few other choice bevies mixed in!
Ontario craft brewers has a good web site as well as what is posted above.

http://www.thefiftybest.com/content/beer/beers/images/alchemist_heady_topper_can.jpg
Heady Topper is a double India Pale Ale brewed by The Alchemist in Waterbury, VT. It is unfiltered and contains 8% ABV, with hints of citrus flavors. Unpasteurized, it is kept refrigerated by authorized retailers until point of sale. As of December, 2015, it was rated the fifth best beer in the world by Beer Advocate, and has been described as "a complex web of genius."Sold only in limited production, it sells out within seconds or minutes of being released

I used to feel the same 'til I had an Erdinger.
Hoffbrau Weiss is acceptable, too.

Sorry about the flu, how was the beer?
Tried this on at the Beer Bistro on my birthday, picked up a case yesterday.

terrible stuff. I gave it another shot while watching the walking dead last night. I really like a lot of the whisky that comes out of Forty Creek but this stuff is awful. It tastes like their cheap standard bottle but with a mouth full of dirty pennies.

Just ordered 10 bottles to hold me over ...nothing in my area so it's being shipped from another lcbo...anyone who enjoys rum should give it a try.
