Any of our members do a Coyote swap in a New Edge?

I am very interested in this!

Honestly, although they are cool they are really cost prohibitive. My buddy did it on his 96GT and it would have been much cheaper to sell his car and buy a coyote GT.

George, I know you love your beautiful GT but if you are after coyote power then you owe it to yourself to test drive an S550. I think you may be shocked at how much you will like it. The 15+ cars bring a lot of car for the money.

Cant sell mine for a newer one man. Love mine too much!

Honestly, the only thing I like about the newer Mustangs is whats between the fenders.

Been reading up on swaps & apparantly doing a coyote swap on a new edge car isnt too difficult. Lools like conversion parts & control pack is pricey tho.

However, I wouldnt attempt it on my own. Gonna talk with Joe DaSilva in the spring & see what he recommends.

Coyote swap is very straight forward but no the cost for a done correctly with all options working swap is not for the faint of heart.
Blower for your 2v, intercooled kit from Kenne Bell will flat out blow your mind for well under 1/2 of what the above swap costs. Install is very straight forward and gives you stock like drive-ability n reliability all the while looking like pure sex under the hood. On a safe for your stock motor boost n tune, expect it to make approx 400 rwhp n about same for torque.

Owner bought the car new, had driven around bone stock until deciding it was time for suspension and blower. Except for regular oil changes n the such, has not needed a single tweak since being done.

So now on my third Cobra but will always regret selling this one. Former 2000 GT with Saleen M90 on an all aluminum 2v backed by a Viper spec T56 n 373 out back. Combo make a hair under 400/400 as well.

So Rick, what's the price tag on that KB set up?

KB's site shows it at $5400 US for intercooled kit in black. You can have them delete things like boost a pump n go with an aftermarket drop in pump which given age of the car makes most sense. Can also delete included chip n favor of buying your own tuner n having tuned here, also makes most sense.

If you ever came across an older Saleen or Roush kit like my car had, very high quality as well but pretty rare to see these days.

Could also look into kits from these guys. I just happen to know where there is a pristine Cobra blower with 30 k on it sitting around.

Do you work on new edges a lot ? I feel like mine is missing some pony’s. Essentially come spring I plan on taking it somewhere for the car to get a once over with a new tune, would you be interested ?. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191202/033ea982b04497845e23c77b2becd75b.jpg

Coyote swap isn't for everyone....unless you plan on doing the swap yourself you gonna drop big!!!

Most people will bail fast and today it is a lot easier to do than when I did my Modfox swap back in the day....they have everything you need today for the swap, but like I said it's not cheap and having someone else do it will cost double!

Other options 03-04 cobra motor drop in can be found reasonable and you still can use the GT PCM and harness to run the motor with little modification...

Good luck either way you go!

There is a company in the states that does all this for you. They specialize in buying wrecked mustangs and F150s and they grab motor and trans. But from what I seen they charge about 15k USD

Coyote swap isn't that bad
You don't need the control pack as the copperhead ecu is easily modified to a control pack setup with stock engine harness.

K member for swap
Trans selection
Etc
It really isn't too bad.

On a new edge, I believe you can use stock K member, and whatever tranny is in the car, AC system, Powersteering (hydroboost)and motor mounts. I also believe you can reuse your flywheel and clutch. Having all that in a New Edge cuts cost significantly. You can get an F150 Motor for about 3k. And can buy the GT cams new from Ford through Ed for a pretty good price. Id' say on a new edge you're looking at less than 10k if you do most of the swap yourself. Maybe even less than that...definitely an avenue to explore.

$$ add up big time.
engine - $5000 approx. either f150 motor + cams or mustang engine
exhaust - $1500 headers and catted H pipe
control pack - $2000
power by the hour kit to installed accessories - $1000
K member plus coil overs - $1000 at least
IMRC delete - $ not much or the new MM motor mounts which move engine ahead to allow room for IMRC
that's all assuming your transmission, clutch and motor mounts are good
cold air intake - $? custom or make one
plus all the other little stuff that will nickle and dime you to death
It can be done. its easier now that its more common to do. just not cheap. but it would be awesome

this stuff is just off the top of my head, don't hold me to it

F150 engines are pretty common to find around 3k. Mustang intake cams can be bought new for about $150 each I believe.
On a new Edge, it can be done with stock K member and mounts but I am told exhaust is a tight fit.
You're right on the rest of it.

On a Fox it's much more expensive and involved.

I have had a few different engine setups in my new edge (including a supercharger on the stock engine), and the current coyote swap in it is definitely my favourite, 400+ rwhp combined with 7500+ rpm in a new edge is a riot. I can even say that I enjoy it more than the whipple topped cobra motor I had in it.

The swap is easy overall, but as others have mentioned, it can get pricey quick, especially if you are paying someone to do the labour. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, then you shouldn't have a problem doing the swap out of a home garage.

Too bad you are wanting to keep your current car, I plan on selling my coyote swapped new edge come spring, with having 3 kids, I just don't get to drive it enough anymore.

- - - Updated - - -Good stuff man!

I know the feeling not driving it much. I also have a young family & mine sat almost 6 years.
I figure for the few time I do get to take it out, it might aswell keep me excited, cuz 255 hp @ the wheels isn't doing it! Love my car but been plateau'd with the power for a long time!

Had mine since new, so I have NO interest in selling it. Will keep my eye out for yours when you're planning on moving on with it.

If you are just driving your car on the street every now and then, the PD blower on your stock motor makes the most sense. You can't beat the sound of the blower. Makes the most power down low (aka what a STREET car wants). With the money you save doing a blower vs. a coyote swap, you could spend that money on suspension, bigger brakes or even creature comfort's like a cool set of seats/stereo/dynamatt.

Nice ride sc4.6.....I recognize your car from our drive to Woodward this summer....we were in the 4th Gen Camaro’s near the boarder...and we even spoke briefly at the boarder....I thought for sure you had a blower on it until you said it was a coyote swap....it worked well.

It was a fun drive down to Woodward, even my wife enjoyed the highway antics lol.

There aren't many naturally aspirated 99-04 mustangs around that move out like this car does, it is even quite a bit quicker than the supercharged 2v that i had in this car many years ago, it surprises quite a few people.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
