The new mach E suv ev looks so ugly it can be a modern art master piece.
Also fuck ford for using the mach name on a vehicle that is nowhere close to being a mustang.
Change my mind.

Pure fail calling it a Mustang, Ford shot themselves in the foot on this one. Those who love Mustangs will not buy an EV with a Mustang badge on it. Potential EV buyers could stay clear of it as they don't want to be associated with its gas guzzling counterpart.

Maybe a good rig maybe not but using the Mustang name plate cuts deep and then rubbing salt in it using the Mach name too, its too much to take.
I expect this was done intentionally to light the internet on fire. It worked, but they pissed off a huge number of Mustang owners.
I hope it fails miserably and those responsible are held accountable.
If I worked for a Ford competitor, I'd be laughing my ass off right now and sending thank you letters.

but the M is a package...why not be able to get it on other vehicles in your line? Mustang isn't a Package, it's actual car line. Shelby makes a package for the F-150 but nobody says anything about that? It's not called the F-150 Mustang...
does that Rati share the same name as their high end sports car? It's okay in my book if a auto manufacturer makes both cars and SUV's
The way your talking it sounds like it would be okay for Ford to make a Mustang but not a truck and put the Ford badge on both? I'm sure this isn't what you mean but that's how I'm reading it...

That wasn't a Ford prototype though, an independent company did that conversion on a car to display at SEMA. Might have been built with Ford's blessing to see what feedback they get. I'd guess there is at least a hybrid version coming when the next gen Mustang arrives.

The Ferrari hatchback is a Lusso, which used to be associated with a gorgeous 2 door sports coupe.
The 3 series name covers everything from a sedate diesel wagon, to a CUV/Coupe thing, to a rip snorting M3 sports saloon. Same with 5 series
To me its fine for a brand or a model range to be associated with a gamut of products. Im saying the Mustang Grande is more embarrassing to be associated with the Mustang name than this.

+1 well said Stephen. This uninspiring SUV release wouldn't bother me at all if it was just called the Mach-E and they can even make reference to Mustang influence in its "DNA" but putting the Mustang name on anything but a 2-door sports/pony car is sacrilege in my books (regardless of its performance).

I think it looks pretty good. A lot more interesting design than the Tesla Y and X. But it's gonna get pretty pricey in Canada you climb the model range. As far as the Mustang name going on it, it might not make sense to us, but for Ford, they want to capitalize on the brand.

I think it looks good too. Lose the Mustang name and badging it will still be good looking. Base model starts at 50,495, Premium is 59,495, California route 1 is 64,495, First Edition is 71,995 and the GT is 82.995. Sadly usable range will suck more than the Model 3 I rented and I am sure it will be built with plenty of Made in China parts so it will be recalled 50 times in the first few years. For the size of the batteries (75.7 KW and 98.8 KW) the range is quite poor. Compare to the Model 3 with 75kw range of 499 km and the model X and S with 100 kw go over 600km. We will have to wait and see the recommended max charge and min charge to see real world usable range. Face it though, it's what the people want. I want Electric too but the range and infrastructure isn't there.
Here is an interesting comparison video. BTW I know the Model S and X are way more money.

If Dodge (Fiat, if it makes you feel better) made an electric 4-door mommy-mobile and called it a Challenger SR-E while still building the Challenger-I’m sure you’d have a different opinion.

Things evolve... but seems odd to use the Mustang brand. Not sure how that brand equity will help an electric crossover though? Lol maybe Mustang will end up replacing the Lincoln as the "Lexus of Ford"...
So many opportunities like the crown Victoria, edsle, capri, cougar etc... I find the "E" to be cheesy.

the car doesn't bother me other than the attachment to Mustang and the preice - electric cars in my opinion should not be more expensive than current vehicles (appling a battery has boosted the price beyond the worth much like installing a diesel engine) - I think people will be sadly disappointed as the current ev's will require quite a lifestyle change...

First Edition model reservations are nearly full. Dealerships are asking $3000-$5000 for down payment (some cases non-refundable) and a signed contract. Oh, and due to the demand an extra $5000 on top of MSRP.
No accounting for taste.

^^^ doh I think they still make "Escape" - I was thinking of "Edge" - I think everything they made for a while was called "edge" maybe ran out of "edge" stickers - quite possible could be the Mustang III - time will tell!

They should have called it the “Ford is completely selling out their brand heritage”, might be too long though. JMHO of course, I’m not affiliated with any car company, so I know very little ;)

WTF..............did Ford even bother doing any focus groups???! this will do nothing but confuse consumers as ford badges on grill and rear would do wonders as well as a name change(ie Ford Magnetic or how about Ford Vector ???) Ultimately this vehicle will flop.....too bad as its not ugly and the concept is good but using the Mustang name iconic at that and bringing it into the SUV realm is a big mistake and sales will quantify this.

Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology Adds Hands-Free Driving, Over-The-Air Updates and More to Help Ford Customers Feel More Relaxed and Confident
Dearborn, MI – June 18, 2020 – Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology – a comprehensive collection of available driver-assist features – adds new offerings including Active Drive Assist, allowing for hands-free driving on more than 100,000 miles of divided highways in all 50 states and Canada.
“The stress of long highway drives remains a huge issue for drivers around the world,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s chief product development and purchasing officer. “By introducing driver-assist technologies like Active Drive Assist, Ford’s version of hands-free driving, we’re allowing our customers to feel more confident whenever they’re behind the wheel.”
Active Drive Assist is the next evolution of Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering from Ford, adding a first-for-Ford Hands-Free Mode with the potential for more enhancements in the future.
Hands-Free Mode allows drivers on certain sections of pre-mapped, divided highways to drive with their hands off the steering wheel – if they continue to pay attention to the road ahead – granting them an additional level of comfort during long drives.
This will be debuting on the Mach-E. More details on the Ford Media site:

I've wondered about the hands free driving features that are coming to market and what it does for distracted driving. I can see more tickets being issued, since if I'm not holding the steering wheel....I'll probably check my phone or doing some other non-driving-focused things? Or maybe the law around distracting driving will change....
