Opinions on the 2007 GT500. Good or bad?

Looking at some and notice of 2007s out there. Is there any known issues with them? Or should I be looking at 8’s and up?

Hey Mav, the only thing I heard about when I was on my hunt was the 07 balancer could be a problem (they were lighter in 08 and later models) early also clutches had a recall/TSB. My 08 had the TSB done. Other then that, haven't heard of any other issues.

At this point in their life cycle I'd wager any one that's been driven and has average mileage would have experienced the common failures and been remedied.

No real issues with the 07’s other than the clutch as mentioned. There is a really nice black for sale right now for a very fair price at a dealer. Car looks clean.

A buddy of mine has a 07 Gt500 vert. He is the original owner, signed by Shelby and has around 21,000km. Only mods are an MGW shifter and Ford Racing axel back. Otherwise stock right down to the air filter.

It’s Vista Blue and rare factory stripe delete car (they still come with the white rocker stripes that say GT500 though). He has been on the fence about letting it go but I believe $40k is the number to take it away otherwise it will stay in his heated garage.

It really is the nicest I have seen and ask anyone who knows me how particular I am with cars...it’s Uber clean.

I haven’t seen the car the car but if it’s as nice as it looks In the pictures that’s a good deal. I bet you could get it for around $30k. 07-10 cars are harder to finance. I scored a great deal on my 08 because the dealer had already sold the car twice but the financing fell through. I didn’t need financing so I pushed on the price some because I was a guaranteed deal and they went for it. Also if this car doesn’t sell in the next few weeks they have to sit on for the winter or more likely send it to auction. So the ball is in your court as a buyer!

I would call ahead and ask them a ballpark number on your trade. They will be able to do that over the phone. This way you know if it’s even an option depending on what they will give you.

I would call BS on that unless someone traded it in on a big dollar car. That was a killer deal for whoever traded it in. Way more than book value. With tax savings that’s 34,500.

Having the wife emotionally attached to the car.....that's a tough one buddy. My other half could care less, in fact she'd be happy to see it gone and the space freed up in the garage!!

Oh well, like we said earlier...if its to be....it will be. If it doesn't work out, there will be plenty more deals come next spring.

You get so much more with a Shelby. Way better transmission, clutch, brembos brakes, different suspension, engines that can handle easily 750rwhp and I love the Shelby styling. Really cool bumpers and hood.
The black 07 has some nice mods done to it as well.
