Got up early Sunday morning to give the Bullitt a quick wash and a fresh tank of gas. Then Erin and I met up with the local club at the Husky and departed from there. Almost............

This is painful to look at, sorry about your loss. Hopefully insurance takes care of you.

Did it move the car so hard it un-beaded the rear tire?

Yes it did. We were dragged for a bit.

Yes it did. We were dragged for a bit.

That sounds terrifying. I amend my earlier response from "I hope insurance takes care of you" to "I hope you sue their asses off"

Wasn’t even going to post this but I was getting too pissed off at some of the uneducated assumptions on the Ontario Mustang Club’s Facebook page.

Anyone know how I would go about buying this car back from insurance? It’s still my car at this point.

I believe you will have to speak to the adjuster or agent that you plan on buying it back.

If they declare it a total loss and they provide a replacement value inform them they that you would like to purchase it back. They'll establish a value as is and deduct that from the replacement value.

Sunday Cruise Pics!
I passed over this thread yesterday because I thought "ooo! northern cruise pics, always good, but I'll look at the pics tomorrow".

Misleading thread title, this is not what I was expecting to see. :(
So sorry to see the Bullitt crushed. Glad you guys didn't get crushed too.

Unless the insurance laws or contracts have changed; when my notch got written off, after the settlement I had first right of refusal for the salvage.

So sad to see such a tragedy. Thankfully you weren't hurt. Could have been much worse.

Somewhere someone is going to get hold of that car and fix it. I Looked at a few cars similar to my new ride. They looked gorgeous, but had salvage titles.

Some years ago my son wrote off his 1992 Dodge Spirit. The insurance company flat out wouldn't let us buy it back. Unsafe, they said. Couldn't take a chance on it being repaired improperly, they said.
It had a lot of aftermarket parts on it and we wanted to do up another one.

Ouch, sorry to see this Gary. Like Don, I hadn't really looked at this thread until today. Glad that to hear that you guys were unscathed, modern vehicles are built very tough.

That looks fixable........they may opt to fix it, they always over estimate the repair costs, but a new replacement would be 60k plus, to fix that its in the neighbor hood of 15-20K......., wont have a Salvage title but will show a repair on the carfax....no biggy but some others may disagree, if it is fixed right it wont matter....remember newer cars get slapped with a Salvage title, older ones are called restored...go figure!

The body damage is one thing, the suspension damage is something else. I don’t think the Ford suspension engineers ever imagined a fully loaded tractor trailer would be parked on top of a Mustang. Not your average spring and shock package when you have to replace a magnaride.

It would be a big deal for me, especially after requesting/seeing pictures of the damage. Can't help but think the car's value takes a pretty good hit with an accident reported, especially one like this. This would be doubly true for a limited edition model, such as the BULLITT.

Of course the answer now is to fix it but make a track day car out of it!! Much easier to weld in the roll cage when you have the roof off anyway. :)

Really sorry to hear that. Does that mean your insurance company will replace it with a new Bullitt?
