I just got an email about my notch insurance reminding me if I total it, I keep the car and get the payout.

I'd pay extra for a good quality insurance for the new Mustang one I could trust to provide a 19A type policy. An insurance for the "car guy".

Not if you want to daily drive it, or use for semi regular commute/errand use.

Would Zehr be a better choice?

Got this from my insurer HUB today, not sure if it is what you are looking for.

FOUR WHEELS, NO WHEELS, NO PROBLEM

You own a vehicle that deserves special treatment. When considering insurance coverage, you’ll want a policy that is designed for the collector car enthusiast, a policy that is tailored to your vehicle and how you use it.

Drive more – your vehicle is meant to be enjoyed and at Hagerty, we encourage driving. So take a Sunday drive, even a Tuesday or Thursday drive, travel to a car show, have fun! Our policy allows for pleasure usage with no fixed kilometer limits.*

For cars…and whatever else moves you – think trucks, SUVs, boats, even vehicles under restoration. Your policy will fit your needs and protect what you own.
Get what it’s worth – our Guaranteed Value® (AKA Agreed Value) coverage means if a covered total loss happens, you get the price you agreed on, less any deductible. Guaranteed.**
Talk to experienced claims specialists – if you need one, a car person is there for you. Our adjusters understand the nuances of collectible vehicles and what it takes to get work done right.

Given GTA drivers, insurance rip-offs (for daily drivers)... the best bet is to NOT own a nice car for the daily commute and keep a classic in the garage. Part of me wants to sell the 2017 GT and just stick to the G37x for daily use summer and winter... Crash it? Who cares, I'll get another for 12k... I was thinking about budgeting 140k for a new DD but this experience is turning me off to owning a nice car...

Although I've been taking a stress free route these days 407 AM and PM... But 100km daily on that hahahaha...

The first step to serenity is admitting one can't have nice things in this city.
Someone's going to crash it, burn it, or steal it.

You should get an older Ranger :D

edit: and resist the urge to mod the DD.
