While not as bad as that, home being built next door (heading towards 4th yr of construction) isn't that bad it's not far off and yes has passed inspections (somehow).

As a homeowner I would be complaining to the City at every opportunity as no build should take that long. FFS condos are built quicker.

... meanwhile I couldn't get away with a fucking deck in Ajax that was built stronger than code, still inspector came sniffing around, argued about stupid things like he thought the basement window lintel carried the weight of not only the first floor but 2nd floor too (he thought floor joists rested on that? and saw a typical small crack on the brick veneer). This is the guy who is in charge of telling me if my deck is solid or not? WTF!

Lol thats funny when I lived in Brampton we put in a pool - I made a custom 6'6" wrought iron fence from scratch with a latch for the gate at the the 6' height - the inspector complained the gate didn't meet code wasn't safe for kids but couldn't reach the latch open it dumbasses

There is a home in Kleinburg off Nashville Road that has been under construction for at least five years. Two years ago we thought the owner's must have run out of money and abandoned the project, then last year we went back an saw that it had custom stained glass windows in every window opening of the house. I'm talking every window in the house and every door is completely or partially stained glass, with a 20ft stained glass peacock in the front entrance. The house also has custom masonry around the lower half of the first floor and around every window and door. It is a site to see among all these traditional looking multi million dollar mansions. The house beside it has been for sale for close to two years (I think the asking price is 9 or 10 million) and hasn't sold in part due to the monstrosity next door. If you are ever in the area take a drive on Charles Cooper Court and you will see it.

Neighborhood is plagued with gypsy builders doing homes for themselves (ok make that each member of their family for tax reasons) that take 5 to 7 yrs or longer. City is not interested.

I'm surprised he's not using fingerjointed 2" x 3"...they are a little cheaper. Classic build though...looking forward to seeing completed...LOL

He is waiting for the wood to naturally grey so he can have the old barn style board look without paying for reclaimed wood.

He finished it and the building survived hurricane level winds, trees got derooted, houses lost their rooftops, cars thrown into Lake Ontario... that damn shed stood still. lol
