Need some help. Bought a package deal with some cars. But no Keys.

One is a 1996 mustang GT with 90k on the clock, original owner passed away. Keys missing.

Any idea how to get a key made? Any lock smiths you guys know that will do the work?

Also have a 1949 buick i need keys for as well, but that one might be a bit easier.

You may be able to give a Ford dealer the VIN and they can get you keys.

unfortunately they don't do anything older than 98. I've tried 2 dealers - both said the same thing

More than 10 model years old, Ford doesn't have the key code info available unfortunately.

A mobile locksmith is going to be your best bet.

I had keys made once at a local car shop in Brampton not sure how they did it without a key - failing that you could change the ignition tumbler with a new one which will come with keys or you can try to get a tumbler an keys from a wrecker -

why not just replace the key cylinders?

Lol that's happened to me a few times only with spelling errors - still might be able to get one at the dealer - last time I ordered from LMR shipping was almost the cost of what I purchased ouch!

I have called about 35 locksmiths which all say they need the security code in order to cut a key. If I replace the ignition do i need to do anything with the PATS system?

Keys need to be programmed to the vehicle. If the mobile service can't do that, once they have keys made for you that have the transponder chip, you will have to get it towed to a shop that has the equipment to access the security system to program in the new keys.

I always order from LMR (in fact I should probably block them from sending me more emails)...lol

There are a couple of services you can use now to reduce shipping costs. Try cross border pickups
