At SEMA last year, Mopar announced it would offer the 707-hp supercharged V8 from the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat in crate form, creatively called the Hellcrate. This year, Mopar is upping the ante to the tune of 1000 horsepower and 950 lb-ft of torque. Meet the "Hellephant." It's the modern 426 Hemi of your dreams.
The Hellephant is loosely based on a standard Hellcat engine, but a bigger bore and stroke bring displacement up from 6.2 to 7.0 liters. The Hellcat's iron block is ditched in favor of the all-aluminum block used in the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak race car, helping save significant weight. A new supercharger makes an appearance here, as does a set of custom forged pistons and a high-lift cam. The valvetrain is borrowed from the 840-hp V8 used in the Dodge Challenger Demon.
Mopar claims the Hellephant is the first 1000-hp crate engine offered by an OEM, and amazingly, it plans on selling it as part of a plug-and-play kit for pre-1976 vehicles. On top of that, Mopar will offer a "Front End Accessory Drive" kit, which includes an alternator, power-steering pump and all the belts and pulleys you may need.

IT's $29995.00 for the motor, plus another $2700 for the wiring harness so that it will run.

I’m sure they offer the engine alone for use in a Hellcat or Demon, it should run with the factory harness and pcm after a new flash is loaded. Nice to have the option though for a hot rod.

So what do you guys do with 4 digit HP STREET cars? The law of diminishing returns can apply here. I guess today's tech can make that 1000hp engine pretty tame when it needs to be at a flip of the switch though... but still how often would you leverage 1000HP unless you're a pro or semi pro racer?

Makes sense. Sure not many garage warriors out there buying them but the high dollar Roadster Shop, Ring Brothers, Rad Rides style builders I'm sure got people lined up for one.
I read an article yesterday that all available motors were sold in the first two days, didn’t say how many were sold or when the next production run would be

lol.....that a figure of speech if you've been under a rock....
they don't offer the 5.4 motor as they went to the coyote base motor in the SCJ cars..... .....fords under rated the engine, but people that have that motor in the SCJ cars were running in the 7's, which equals 1100 HP.
Dirt crawler?
