Why would they bring this up if they didn't have thoughts on doing so...

Add a big Whipple and banish Demons.
It's about time!
Ford has only offered wimpy displacement V-8 engines in Mustangs since 1975.
Coyote weighs approximately 450lbs to my knowledge.
This 7.3 iron block with most likely aluminum cylinder heads/intake shouldn't weigh anything like an old all cast iron 429-460 big block.
This 7.3 when tuned/set up for Mustang use would have to be a monster.
I'm just guessing at this point.

My neighbour had an f150 with a v10 said it was a pig on fuel - maybe this new v8 will replace that engine and the coyote - the coyote and the six may have not been a good option for the f150 (just thinking out loud) although I've only driven the s550 a few times I definitely notice the how well balanced the car is and it also gets great fuel mileage - I could see it as a good option for a strip car as Fast Ed suggested or the aftermarket...I believe Ford has discontinued all their pushrod crate engines available at Ford Performance will be interesting to see....

The Coyote motor isn't going anywhere any time soon or being replaced and will be around till after most of us are buried.

I was on board when it was all pushrod stuff, then the modular came around and it was essentially a turd, but most of the Ford faithful stayed with it, praising how great it was. All the while the LS engines were killing the ponycar game, and were also being transplanted into Mustangs more than any other car it seems, and most of the Ford faithful hated it. So now, after all these years they come back with a pushrod engine and act like it’s something new or revolutionary?

It’s not meant to be a second coming. It’s meant as the new gas alternative in Ford HD trucks. That’s not new for Ford. Recently they’ve had the 6.8L V10 and then 6.2L (both pushrod). Now this 7.3L.
It’s only big news because it’s a new motor.
Will it make it into a special edition Mustang or F150? Who knows. I heard one reviewer suggest they could easily sleeve it and have a 429 Boss Mustang.
Sounds good to me.
