The first signs I saw was with THE EVIL Wally Mart. 16 years ish ago I had the CEO of CTC, at the time, over to my place for a few bottles of wine. It was very eye opening listening to what he had to say…as years passed..I noticed it happening with Costco. The only one that wins is the consumer…so they think. It is a terrible downward spiral. Now more are seeing it, but, I think it’s a wee bit to late. Now we have way less actual manufacturing jobs and a lot more distribution jobs at lower pay with less or no benefits. So,,,was that $2.00 savings at Wally mart really worth it..me thinks, NOOOOO.

I agree on the downward spiral. Inflation is gonna perpetuate selecting price over quality/competency. I do some side jobs locally and it's only the older who are loyal repeat customers. Younger still need to touch the hot element.

Squeezing out many small businesses makes sense from the control perspective. Controlling a handful of CEO's of large outfits is manageable. Controlling thousands of small businesses isn't manageable.

Looking for some input on truck parts cost

Our lease is up on the F150 and I’m not putting the goodies on the new truck. Hoping to sell it all as a package but not sure what it’s worth. Tires are Toyo Open Country Rt in a 33x12.5x20 on KMC 651Black rims. With those tires the levelling kit was required for clearance. And have the matching lift blocks for the back so it has more of a “stock” rake
SCT tuner. FFRP dual Exhaust with the “square” tips and other fin can locate the factory box and Roush cold air intake.

Every thing is around 5 years old tires are not new but have some life left.

Ordered a weighted shifter ball for my silver car, finally arrived after being lost in Canada Post hell only to open the box and find it's the wrong one (totally different shape / model). Call em, no problem will ship new one as warranty replacement with no value and further agree to cover shipping cost to return. I'm good, thanks for looking after things so quickly and with no hassle. Second one arrived with no shipping delay but paperwork not filled out properly and cost me taxes. Ok lil annoyed but hey is what it is, at least it's finally here. Open the box to find, sent the same one they sent the first time. For fuck sakes guys, model is clearly printed on the outside of the box.

Since the weather was pretty good today, gave me a chance to do my 4K oil change on the Mustang. Hit 36k on it last week. Upon removing the service panel under the car, I found a dead rat stuck onto the subframe. Must have been there prior to my rust proofing in November as it was covered in Krown oil.

Also changed my 10 year old battery as it takes a while to crank when the temps hit below -20.

Also changed the serpentine belt to a Bando belt. It has less paint on the flat side unlike the Motorcraft belt which has more paint that tells you which part number it is. Every time the belt goes over the idler pulley it makes a whooshing sound.

The pan is not leaking, but the drain plug socket was damaged during an oil change at a dealership. The tabs inside the oil drain hole that hold the cam-style drain plug in place have been broken off. ZR rigged something up as a temporary fix.

VW TDI. 2012 Passat. PCV is blocked. Well its a VW. no replaceable CCV or PCV. You must buy a new valve cover at over $450 bucks. Also requires removal of the fuel injectors requiring an injector removal tool and thus also requires new injector seals, hold down bolts and o-rings. My solution is found a Chinese cheapo valve cover on amazon for an unbelievable $66 and ordered the injector seals from rock auto. Then sell the car. Last trip to Toronto it leaked out a bunch of antifreeze, rear sway bar link broke, started leaking oil due to blocked pcv and flywheel started clunking. So $770 for a new oil cooler now the valve cover $90 bucks for a 3" long sway bar link and since it's a dual mass flywheel for the dsg it's $1350 for a new one or $800 for a cheap Chinese one. As ZR Knows on a previous trip to the big city $650 bucks for a new Def pump (3rd one). It really sounds crappy but it has 290,000 km. These are the first problems and I've had it since 2015. Just time to send it on it's way. We've only had 2 Dailys since 2004. A new 2005 Passat tdi sold it at 320,000km and bought this one used at 60k. Were gonna stick with VW since overall they have been very good to us and can't beat the 12yr unlimited mile rust warranty. Sadly now its 7yr. But they replace any rusted panel that is not caused by a rock chip. Doesn't need to be a hole. Just a paint bubble will do it.

Sunday fun - in addition to taking apart the washing machine I noticed the passenger side mirror on the ATS was loose. Turned out to be failed internal mount/swivel inside the mirror unit - guessing brine ate away at the metal parts which just crumbled today when I was removing the mirror.

Treatment I'm receiving for a recent snowmobile accident injury (arm and shoulder) has made an unexpected improvement in my left eye, blurred vision and vertigo. Had no idea this was a thing, soon as I got up off the table felt better but thinking it was the reduced discomfort in my arm. Walked outside, nope wasn't the arm at all, vision was almost totally clear (still light floaters and slightly hazy), vertigo is gone. Yes I've been to the eye specialist twice.

Yep. Spent years with headaches and other issues after a roll over accident. Only answer from the drs was “take this pill” multiple times a day led to stomach problems.

Started to have monthly appointments with a massage therapist and the headaches all but stopped. No more drs appointments. No more chiropractic appointments.

Only down side is I have to keep up with it or the headaches start to come back.

$50,000.00 for a used car is a tough finance for most people —but these same people could probably easily finance and brand new $60,000.00 car at a dealer. Times are tough right now and sometimes I see the dealers Shelby's, Mach1's, etc. sit on lots for a year or better before sold. Good luck Mav. It's a nice car! In my opinion new and used cars are all too expensive.

I'm struggling with lazy. I completely serviced the blower and don't feel like pulling the washed and shiney machine out for one token use and spoil the wax job. Gonna try to forecast when it'll melt from the comfort of my chair.
