Just heard that its been estimated there were 150 Mustangs in Goderich.
I know in one video (i don't know how to post videos) I saw I counted 75 cars and I wasn't in that video and there had to be 40 cars ahead of me.

I'm going to bow out of the hobby or at least not be so "social" about it. Scaling back on the website (no more ecommerce swag stuff) and shut down the youtube channel. May sell the website at some point, I'm in talks for that with a company.
The 88 notch should sell relatively quickly... not so sure about the 87 but once out, I will sell my hoist and my spare parts as well. Both great cars, the 87 has nothing but high-end parts (save for the sound system) and should be a great fox someone looking to take it to that "next level".
I'm going to focus on my family and myself. Get back into music, I even got an actual contract to make backing tracks for some videos (a friend of mine is a video editor, looking for royalty free rock music).

Had a front row seat to some almost killer road rage on the drive home yesterday between Orangeville and Primrose (hwy 10 & 89) - not sure what the driver of the Hyundai Accent was thinking taking on an 18 wheeler - man it's not worth dying for....take a deep breath and get some oxygen to the brain and repeat after me....hymmmmmmm. But I have to admit sometimes, well almost every Saturday driving up hwy 10 after work I wish scud missiles where legal....lol deep breath exhale slowly....

If you mean fan on outdoor unit, nursed one on my old unit for years by manually squirting oil into the front / rear bearings until it spun freely, went years at a time in between squirts.
Observations from today.
Needed a couple things from Canadian Tire today. While store was only moderately busy, be dammed if people don't have a clue what social distancing actually means plus FYI to a handful of peeps we saw, mask does nothing if it's around your neck.

News reports, mayor says Toronto is upside an insane amount of money and may have to cut services and staff. Ok can see how city's revenue streams have been interrupted but why do they continue to spend funds to grind off road markers to create new bike lanes? Same with what it must have cost to change speed signs on most streets in an effort to "save pedestrians". Report a few years back said bulk of the pedestrians being struck problem was associated with pedestrians themselves but they flat out ran from the idea of creating the Zombie bylaw or even starting to enforce existing pedestrian laws or push common sense before stepping off the curb.
Every single day, all of us drive on roads where driver after driver after driver make insane moves in total disregard of safety or laws yet we continue to see more and more radar traps and less and less on road enforcement. You know, enforcement of the actual laws that really make a difference in keeping me you and everyone else safe. Beyond the revenue makers, who really gives a flying you know what if someone is 20 or 30k over on a wide open hwy?

You know how home grown tomatoes are always more flavorful than store bought.
I expanded my garden and am at the front end of an attack of tomatoes, more than I can work into salads, burgers, omelets etc. I took the surplus and made sun dried tomatoes in my dehydrator. Incredibly good, better than any I've ever bought.
Date night tonight and I'm gonna kill it with pizza.

That's absolutely irresponsible and criminal to store seized explosive material in a busy port/city for 6+ years (if that is in fact what it was).
Laffs

stick to the comforting lies, no unpleasant truths allowed
If you'd like to believe that it's somehow comforting that:
- Extremely hazardous materials routinely pass through port cities though means of transit that are generally in poor repair and staffed inadequately
- Levels of government and their enforcement bodies are so inept that they seize hazardous materials they are in no way equipped to deal with safely
- Bureaucracies are so overburdened that they can forget/choose not to deal with 3000lbs of volatile explosive materials stored near densely populated areas in a timely matter
- Such levels of hazardous materials being woefully cared can be well documented through news agencies and still result in nearly no public outcry
Sure, I guess that's the "comforting" storyline we're accepting here? I mean ineptitude is no where near as glamorous as conspiracy but no less terrifying in my opinion.

Wasn’t looking for terrorist related stuff. Just asking as I’m not an explosive expert.
I though ammonium nitrate when it gets wet or breaks down creates nitrous oxide
Which is not a high speed explosion. However if you add certain additives and compress it. It will have a detonation of over 10000 m/second.

I think I am still having fuel flow issues. pump is as close to the tank as I can get it with it still lower than the tank. but that is still a coupe feet of hose away. seems to be okay for a bit and then fuel pressure drops off. I need a pump that can suck better than the cheap diaphragm pumps
No it's a high pressure pump.
Start a thread with pic n details of your current set up and I'll take a look.

Did you change super charger setups?
No I wish! My intention was to sell the supercharger. I wanted to buy a Kenne bell instead. But literally I was t getting any bites worth going on. So then I flirted with the idea of selling the car. ( wouldn’t be buying another) decided to keep it. Now I want to improve the setup I have. I need to retune it. Car won’t pass 5400 rmp through 2-4 cause the car is “ tuned that way”. I have a feeling after I remove the boosta pump and go with a high flow fuel pump and a new tune the car will run way better and actually hit 6500 rmp. The heat exchanger is just to help manage heat cause the V2 sucks when it comes to heat management and the current one I have a micky mouse one that the previous owner Jerry rigged to pass as one but essentially only makes my blood boil.
End rant

The delivery guys refused to help move the old fridge and put the new one in its place, they just dumped the new one in my entrance. Which is fine, they were yahoos without straps or dollies or anything just muscle and the guys were smaller than I am. But I feel like I got ran over by a truck this morning.

I am now 95% out of fox bodies... Even sold my hoist and I gave my 90's scantool to the guy who bought the 87 notch. I just have my website left to sell. I have an interested party from the USA and possibly a local guy.
Was bittersweet to see the notch leave after 6 years and thousands of hours, liters of blood and sweat. But the new owner is pretty happy with it. It's not a perfect mint example of a notch but still pretty decent for most standards, even those of us with OCD.
From now on, I'm just going to have a daily driver and right now my Ranger fits the needs very well. Next DD will be this

yep seeing stuff that was on back order pop up now saying NLA. makes customers super happy when they have been waiting and now we get to tell them its never coming.
GE made the right move with their front load laundry imo. said they were not going to put production into the current model as it was coming to production end anyway in September. instead they released the new stuff early as they had already run some production threw, ramped up production and now we have laundry stock coming in.

almost 10k in land transfer taxes. 13k in realtor fees. 2 k in lawyers fees and a seemingly never ending list of fees and charges for god know what else. so much for the money we set aside to start the drive shed build. guess that's gonna have to wait.

Wow a 6x14 trailer looks small in the dealership lot... not so much behind my truck and in my driveway... wow! Glad I didn't get a 7 foot wide one... Pulls real nice though and I won't run out of room with my saws, tools and material in there... heck if working on a ground floor I can do all my cuts in there... But if business goes well, I will trade the trailer for a Ford Transit van to make things easier. I just can't risk dumping 20 or 30 grand into a vehicle without knowing if the business will provide or not lol...
Note: Trailer will be up for sale next year if I make money, and it will be for sale if I don't as well LOL

Yeah my truck takes a lot less fuel and with 4x4 I can work in new developments (given the opportunity) and not get too stuck in the mud. But a trailer is cumbersome at best. I'm sure an extended Transit would get the job done, I just don't want to invest that kind of money into a business that may not bring in enough revenue lol... always a risk.

Been a crazy few weeks.
Mom had a pre op with the surgeon. Sounds like promising news so far.
He can’t say for sure until after the surgery but “on paper” it looks like it’s only stage one. She is on a Rush list for surgery he is hoping sometime in September. After that they will analyze and decide the next steps.
Monday was closing day for both our old place and the new place. Ended up not getting a key till like 5:30. So Tuesday was move in day. So far lots to un pack still but the kids seem stoked. Running threw the trails in the Bush. They have already picked about a couple spots for a tree house build next summer.
Was off all week other than yesterday. Just trying to take it slow. And work threw boxes.
So far it feels like waking up in a vacation cabin.
Hope that feeling stays.

Dog comes to rescue of boy being attacked by cougar in B.C.’s Interior
LILLOOET, B.C.
THE CANADIAN PRESS
PUBLISHED 9 HOURS AGO
A 10-year-old boy has escaped serious harm in a cougar attack in British Columbia’s Interior.
The Conservation Officer Service says the animal attacked on Monday near a remote family cabin on Marshall Lake northwest of Lillooet.
The service says two women and four children were walking when the boy ran ahead.
It says the cougar dropped from a tree and swiped at the boy, knocking him to the ground and scratching his back and chest.
The service says a border collie with the group jumped on the cougar’s back while others screamed and threw rocks, forcing the cat to flee.
The boy’s injuries aren’t considered life-threatening and the service’s predator attack team remains at the site of the confrontation.

Well I bought a spare trans last week and had some time to install it today.
New trans feels amazing and the ZR magic of lubing everything up makes it feel like we did a brand new clutch at the same time. Pedal is as light as a feather.
Also did some cleaning up beside the trans while it was out

It's brutal out there...
I still need to maintain a job search as a backup. I know the business won't bring in revenue for the next 6 months or so, especially with a possible complete lock-down again. I need to be open to opportunities.
But I have 20+ years experience in marketing, front-end development, IT leadership and PMO management. Looking at who is also applying for jobs (even shit coordinator roles @ 80k /year) I'm screwed. I'm competing with either people with a similar background, some coming from VP roles or candidates with MBA's and engineering degrees with little experience. I also suspect from all the literature on company "CSR" pages that they are doing a lot of racist hiring practices as well. Or not hiring strictly on proficiency and company cultural fit.
Anyway that's me suspecting things but there is no arguing on how tough things are out there, even for an IT professional.
I hope there are more jobs than carpenters / handymen (handypeoplekind?)... out there. lol

Seeing these types of articles a little too frequently now which means folks in government are looking at it more seriously:
Three ways the federal government may increase taxes on principal residences
TIM CESTNICK
UPDATED SEP 11, 2020 8:55AM EDT - Many Canadians have come to rely on homes for financial security, so a levy on principal residences may jeopardize savings - PUBLISHED SEP 10, 2020 6:07PM EDT
Last week, I wrote about the possibility that our government might look to tax principal residences in some way. Here are the facts that we have working against homeowners: 1) The comments of those who are advising this government on housing wealth and inequality have revealed an attitude that many Canadians have “won the lottery” with the value of homes increasing so much, and that the glorification of home ownership is a “regressive canard”; 2) the principal residence exemption has been abused by some in the past who have claimed it when perhaps they shouldn’t have; 3) the homes of Canadians represent their largest store of value for most people; and 4) the support provided by the government during this COVID-19 pandemic is almost assuredly going to mean tax increases in the future.
The question then becomes: What might the government do to increase taxes on principal residences? I think there are three possibilities.
THE U.S. EXAMPLE
The first possibility is that the government may introduce tax rules similar to those in the United States. South of the border, there’s a limit on the gain on the sale of a home that can be sheltered from tax. Specifically, there is a US$250,000 “exclusion” (that is, exempted from tax), which is increased to US$500,000 for a married couple filing jointly.
There’s another catch here. To qualify for the exclusion in the U.S., you have to have lived in the home for two years out of the last five years leading up to the sale of the residence (there are a couple of other tests that must be met, but they’re generally not an issue for most U.S. taxpayers).
Further, if a taxpayer in the U.S. owns more than one residence (a city home and a cottage, for example), they can’t simply choose which residence should be sheltered from tax. There’s a test that must be applied to determine which of the properties was really the “main home." In Canada, we can designate any eligible property as our principal residence, albeit we can only fully shelter from tax on one property for each family unit.
As an aside, if you’re a U.S. citizen or green-card holder living in Canada and you own your Canadian home, a sale of your home may currently be tax-free in Canada but may be taxable in the U.S. So, speak to a tax professional about this.
Now, there’s also the issue of mortgage interest. In Canada, we can’t generally deduct it. The government’s rationale is that we don’t generally pay tax on the sale of a principal residence, and so there shouldn’t be a deduction for interest to buy the place. If the government were to start taxing principal residences, you might expect that we’d be entitled to deduct our mortgage interest – but don’t hold your breath.
Taxpayers in the U.S. can deduct mortgage interest on up to US$375,000 of debt (US$750,000 for a married couple filing jointly). The limits are higher (US$500,000 and US$1-million, respectively) for mortgages taken out on or before Dec. 15, 2017. There are other limits, too, that can apply in certain situations.
Allowing mortgage interest deductibility is not guaranteed if our tax rules change here in Canada. In fact, I’d be surprised if we were granted this benefit, because it would mean a loss of tax revenue in the short term, which the government might make back at the time a home is sold – potentially years down the road.
THE WEALTH TAX
Rather than simply copying the approach in the U.S., our government could introduce a wealth tax. This type of tax is common in several European countries (France, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and Italy come to mind). In some cases, the wealth tax has morphed into a tax on real estate alone. In France, for example, the rules changed in 2018 to exclude financial assets and to only tax real estate with a value of €1.3-million ($2-million) or more.
Wealth taxes generally range from 0.5 per cent to 1.5 per cent of the value of the assets being taxed. Could something similar be introduced in Canada? Well, it’s being done at the municipal level already. Property taxes are something all homeowners are generally familiar with. It wouldn’t be difficult to add a federal tax to a system already being administered by municipalities across the country.
THE GST/HST
Currently, the goods and services tax (or harmonized sales tax) is paid by purchasers of new or substantially renovated homes in Canada. Even resale homes can be subject to GST/HST if the property was used primarily for business purposes. It wouldn’t be difficult for our government to collect GST/HST on the sale of all homes, and to change the rules around GST/HST rebates currently available.
There are, of course, problems with all these taxes. That will be a debate for another day.

Pretty soon trudeau will find a way to charge income taxes on savings (savings aquired from net pay no less lol)... "Oh you have a 100k in the bank, I guess you need to pay $13,000 a year on taxes on that"... "Oh your house that you bought in 1980 for 200k that's now worth 900k... you need to pay taxes on the difference, even if you're not selling anytime soon"...
I so want to make min wage and live in a 60k house somewhere in the middle of the woods... So I can be just another liberal voter expecting conservatives to pay for my living expenses.

That is one of the considerations in the wealth tax being focused on real assets - your annual property taxes are a version of that but only municipal whereas the Feds (and even Prov) might want to add theirs on top.

Haven't read about that but the Federal tax package in the US a couple years ago actually reduced the benefit that Americans were getting with the real estate deductions so it effectively increased taxes for properties with higher values/mortgages (similar ranges as to what you'd see in major Canadian cities).

The measure, which has been a favored project of the state's Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy for years, would raise marginal rates to 10.75%, from 8.97%, on people with incomes above $1 million. The higher rate is currently applied to those earning more than $5 million.

If the municipality gets the property tax...which branch gets the land transfer tax? I see this being an easy way for the feds to go deeper into the pockets of home buyers at the time of purchase. Being a one time tax, most people will not put up a stink about it. It’s going to be a shit show for sure.
Time to pack it in and move to a warmer climate country.

It's the province and Toronto already added their piece on top a few years back, so possible to see the Feds add to that.

I have been saying for years the Canadian government was getting ready to tax home sales.
Several years ago they mandated the reporting of the sale of your personal residence. By implementing this, they started collecting data to determine how much tax they might be missing out on.
BTW if you don’t report the sale of your house there are penalties.

Yes, this was just about 3 years ago I think? The mandate to report sales on your tax returns is a transition to eventual taxation (which they did not say out loud...lol).

The 10 Oldest Restaurants in the World Are Way Older Than You May Think
The oldest restaurant in the world has served both Mozart and Clint Eastwood.
BY STACEY LEASCA AUGUST 08, 2020
Every year there’s some new food trend that seems to sweep the internet. Remember when cupcakes were all the rage? Rainbow grilled cheeses? How about the cronut? But some meals are bigger than trends. And most of those long-lasting dishes can be found in a few of the oldest restaurants in the world.
In a time when restaurants seem to come and go with the seasons, there are a few standout stars that have somehow stood the test of time. And we’re not talking a few decades — we’re talking a few centuries.
NetCredit, a financial services provider, waded into the historical waters and created a list of the oldest restaurants in more than 115 countries around the globe. To reach its conclusion, it simply used the qualification that a restaurant is “still serving today,” meaning it could have changed hands, names, or gone through renovations since its opening day. It then looked through records and historical data to formalize its list of the 10 oldest restaurants in the world.
Coming in at the number 10 spot is Gostilna Gastuž, a restaurant that has been serving food in Slovenia since 1467. According to NetCredit, it’s long been famous for mushroom soup and buckwheat porridge.
Honke Owariya in Japan landed at number nine on the list. It’s been doling out its famous soba made with mushrooms, egg, shrimp tempura, nori, leeks, and daikon since 1465.
The eighth-oldest restaurant on the list is Hotel Gasthof Löwen, located in Liechtenstein. It’s served happy patrons veal with vegetables since 1380. It’s closely followed by the seventh-oldest restaurant, The Sheep Heid Inn in Scotland, which has served steak and roasted mushrooms since 1360.
In 1345, the sixth-oldest restaurant, La Couronne in France, opened its doors to offer duck, roasts, and escargot. And in 1198, the fifth-oldest restaurant, The Brazen Head in Ireland, opened to serve bangers and mash.
In the fourth-oldest spot sits Ma Yu Ching’s Bucket Chicken House in China, which first served buckets of chicken in 1153. Just a few years earlier, in 1147, the third-oldest restaurant, The Old House in Wales, began feeding customers pies with chips and peas.
And, in 1146, the second-oldest restaurant, Wurstkuchl in Germany, cooked its sausages and sauerkraut. While these places all certainly have a rich (and tasty) history, none quite match the length of St. Peter Stiftskulinarium in Austria, which opened way back in the year 803 and served tafelspitz (boiled beef with minced apple and horseradish). NetCredit put the restaurant’s age in perspective when it wrote that it served “both Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Clint Eastwood.”
Looking to dine at the oldest restaurant in the United States? You can, by heading to Newport, Rhode Island, and making a reservation at The White Horse Tavern, which a pirate named William Mayes opened in 1673. Sure, it may not be as old as the others, but as someone who grew up just a few miles away from the restaurant, I can tell you it’s just as tasty. Check out the entire list of oldest restaurants, along with all the research that went into this unique project, here.

Had a fridge on order since April, every time I called for an update it kept getting pushed back another month. Just contacted the store again and now they tell me there's no ETA when it will come. Fuck you very much! Asked for my money back, this is bullshit, I'm done!
^ We are in the exact same boat for automotive parts right now, some stuff is either hugely delayed or won't even be available till maybe next year.

its wide spread thing but the appliance industry has been hit hard.
between backordered and out of stock product, parts and the fact that im struggling to keep up with the work of 3-4 people myself. its become a daily thing where at least one of my staff is being yelled at and berated over something

Let's try this again, placed another order this time with Home Depot. Scheduled delivery date (if all goes smoothly) is Dec 3rd. @5.4Mark, it's exactly inline like you told me yesterday, Oct 23 leaving the factory plus 5 weeks for shipping. Fingers crossed!

Hope it works for you this time!
Wife ordered chest freezer from HD- after a 6 month delivery date- the date disappeared-
She ended up calling /canceling order, and found a place that had it in stock.

I really enjoy my new job. Pay is meh but yesterday it hit me while I was finishing a job. No one around me, no meetings, no bosses, no 1.5 hour commute on the 401 every day. And during the painting, I had plenty of time to think and listen to podcasts about physics and other neat things.
